2A Final: Fort Campbell 29 DeSales 9

Not quite sure what the DeSales coach was so upset about. There were a few unsportsmanlike conduct penalties called on the Falcons right at the end of the game.....but from where I was (on the sideline) our guys were just tryin' to get out of the way and DeSales' boys were a bit frustrated.

Congratulations to the DeSales Colts on a great season.

With all due respect...unsportsmanlike penalties aren't called on teams trying to "get out of the way". :sssh:

But nevertheless, congratulations to Ft. Campbell on the BEST consecutive stretch of championship football in the history of class 2A !!! That's quite an accomplishment...

:sssh: DeSales players were "sitting" on and pushing FC players while they were down during the Victory formations and not allowing them up. Not sure what was said in the exchange, but the flag was thrown on FC. :sssh:

Thanks, it is quite an accomplishment and I'm extremely proud of these boys.

I was kind of surprised how hard it appeared for the Falcons to slow the run down, but they slowed it enough to win the game in the second half so some adjustments were made that helped.

DeSalles has a very good team, as shown by the fact that they are the only team to be ahead of Fort Campbell in any games this year. There offense moved the ball pretty good and their defense slowed down not one, but tweo 1,000 yard rushers considerably. Their DBs did a poretty good job preventing some deep passes too.

I was kind of disappointed that the fans could not go out on the field with the boys after the game as we have done all year long for some final words from the Coach Berner and staff. It would have been nice, but I guess it was okay because our young men got it done. Congrats again, Falcons.

Congrats to the Falcons from your friends in Fort Thomas!!! How sweet to threePeat!!!

Murray seemed to have paved the way for teams to attack Fort Campbell's defense with the Wildcat. Trigg County had a little success in the second round. Murray caught them off guard in the third round. Monroe County good success as well as DeSales in the final. However, none of them could pass against the Fort Campbell defense and that was the difference.

I hope so!! It was great to see a lot of Monroe County Falcons sitting with us and supporting FC at the Championship for the 2nd year in a row. I had the opportunity to congratulate Neil Wilson for his superb game last week vs. FC. You all from Monroe are a complete class act! Can't wait for another Falcon vs. Falcon matchup next year.

Agree as Monroe Co. fan sure hope to see another Falcon VS Falcon matchup. Had a lot of fans talk about how good the fans are at FC. Hope to see you in Tompkinsville next year. Congrats FC Falcons big win for a class team, coaches, and fans.

FC simply has some ball hawks/falcons in the secondary, I think it may be the most underrated aspect of FC's team...

Congratulations to Fort Campbell

I pointed out on a few occasions that our defensive backfield is the base of the 2009 state champion track and field team. Many were dismissive that track speed and football speed are two different things. All I know is FC defensive backs bring home the bling whether on the grid iron or the track. CB Breeon Moreno, FS Tre Powell, CB Derrious Brown, and mister super hybrid safety/linebacker Darian Crank.

Now that the season is over, I will cover a couple of things we would not think of mentioning over the last few weeks. FC held Murray to 7 points in the first half and led 21 - 7 at the half. We sustained two significant injuries to our D-line that first half - #90 Nick Mastrian broken leg and #48 Tim Nikolao blown knee. Since that time, FC was challenged in stopping the run, second half at Murray and the last two games. Had it not been for those two significant injuries at almost the same time, I don't believe we would have been so challenged by the simple wildcat formation.

The Murray game was by far our toughest test of the season. Murray is big, nasty, host an awesome environment for a game, and a running back named Brandon Wicks that is a beast. Murray, much like DeSales could do nothing but run, no passing game at all. It is very hard to get to a championship and almost impossible to win a championship as a one dimensional offensive team. You can run all over the field for eight minute chunks of time, but if you end up with 3 points or 0 points what is accomplished? When you play a team like FC that will eventually stack some points on the scoreboard, you will eventually have to give up the gadget offense known as the wildcat. That precise moment when a team transitions from the wildcat to catch-up offense is when FC says check mate!
