I think you are over reacting here. Yeah cheating is bad but this is not being condoned or encouraged by the athletic department or the University. It sounds to me like a girl who wants attention from the players. I'd say it is just people cheating and reflects on them as individuals but it doesn't matter that they are players. In other words would you be this upset to see regular joe tuition student cheating? If so your anger is justified but this has nothing to do with them being on the basketball team they are just cheating college students.

Any conversations during an exam are considered cheating.

 

This problem is not exclusive to Kentucky, but it does not make the problem any less offensive.

 

Also, I don't think this is one of the perks to being an athlete. There is plenty of cheating that occurs on the majority of college campuses, particularly when large classes are involved.

With this being said, I am not discounting the accusations. Im like many on here that would like to hear more specifics before these accusations are made.

As people were turning their exams in, the athletes were receiving the answers. This wasn't "pre-test conversation" or even conversation as the exam was being distributed. This was cheating and it goes on everywhere.

And I was pointing out that you misread his observations. The athletes in question were conversing with another student at the end of the exam, not at the beginning.

The athletes still had their test on their desk and she would say something and they would bubble in an answer. The professor and assistant were both in the front of the classroom taking up the exams from the students that were finished. So there was much clatter and movement going on as everyone was finishing, this was the perfect time for them to get the answers. There is well over 50 students in the class so I'm not sure why they weren't walking around the classroom.

Depending on who it was I don't really have a problem with it. Some of our basketball players (Wall & Cousins) shouldn't have to be at college. It's the NCAA's fault IMO. Sure cheating is wrong, but it's not like only athletes do it.

The difference, of course, is when athletes do it it can get their college in major trouble with the NCAA.

 

And just because others do it doesn't excuse it! I wish people would stop making lame excuses for this!

Your post exemplifies all of the bad of collegiate athletics.

 

Wall and Cousins had options. They chose to go to college. They play by the rules like every other student.

 

Note: I am not saying that either of those are involved in this allegation. I only referenced them because of the post.

If you all don't think the best athletes across the country aren't getting special perks then you are living in a bubble. This case it seems though it was blatant and the young lady helping may have other motives besides making sure these 2 athletes get a passing grade. Man I miss those college days. Lol
