If Titans make the playoffs, is Vince Young the MVP of the league?

Featured Replies

They were 0-6 and out of it when he took over.

They have won 5 straight and most likely will have to win 9-10 games to make the playoffs. Meaning he will lead them to a 10-0 or 9-1 record and an unbelievable comeback to make the playoffs. It would have to be as a wild card.

I will say Chris Johnson.

Wasn't he on the team when they were 0-6?

Yep, and putting up HUGE numbers.

And they were still LOSING!

Young is the change that has taken a 0-6 team to 5-6 isn't he?

Not to discount Johnson's amazing season. Mike and Mike had a stat that he continues with his season average and he will be about 70 yards short of the season rushing record.

No.

Overlooked in all of the Vince Young hoopla, is the fact that Titans defense has finally started playing up to expectations, largerly because of two things...1) they're healthy, especially in the secondary where they were decimated with injuries early on, and 2) they made some scheme adjustments to blitz more and bring pressure, instead of relying on the front four and putting the secondary in a no-win situation like they did for the first six weeks.

Vince deserves his share of credit for the way he's playing. But, if the Titans defense was still playing the way they were heading into the bye, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Not entirely...see defense above.

Good information. Thanks.

But the defense isn't on the highlight reel from yesterday and that will go a long way across the nation with voters when Young wins games like that.

While I don't think he can with the Manning/Brees/Farve seasons going on, I do think he merits discussion if the Titans make the playoffs.

No, no and again no. It's not all Vince. He's helped, but Chris Johnson has been playing his butt off the last 5-6 weeks. It's been amazing what he's done.

Well you are right there.

1396 yards for the season.

790 the last 5 games.

606 the first 6 games.

I wouldn't say MVP of the League but I would say that he is just as important part of Titans as anyone else. I don't think Vince wins like he has without Johnson, but then again Johnson didn't win any without Vince. Mutual friendship.

Considering how well guys like Favre, Manning and Brees have played, and how well their teams have played, there's no way a guy who was #2 on the depth chart for the first 6 weeks of the season will win the MVP. Young has been great and has played a major role in getting the Titans back in contention. But, he'll have to settle for lots of media praise...he won't be getting an MVP award.

He'd get some discussion, and rightfully so...just like Kerry Collins did last season. But, ultimately, not enough to actually win.
