November 30, 200916 yr Cobb probably makes it whether Locke makes the block or not. He's faster than Newton and its not like Newton was making them respect the pass in the 2nd half. The big difference is that when Cobb is at QB, all 11 defensive eyes are on him. Cobb was drawing attention (a double team in the slot) opposite the call. UT had one defensive player for two UK player's (locke and Newton). This means the Coach did his job as a play caller...the players have to make a play...the UT defender made the play!

And Coaches have to put the right personnel in to "make" plays happen. You cannot justify what Joker did not do.

A huge play in this game was in the third quarter with UK leading 21-14 and UT facing a 3rd and 18, I believe. Crompton threw about a 5-yard pass to Stocker with Micah Johnson defending in man coverage. Rather than give up the completion and tackle him well short of the first down, Johnson chose to make an ill-advised gamble to bat the pass down. Needless to say, he whiffed and Stocker rambled down the sideline for 30+ yards and the Vols went on to score from there. Now, I'll qualify this next statement by saying that I most definitely haven't watched Johnson on every snap. But, the times I have chosen to watch him, I have not been overly impressed with him. I don't think he's nearly as good as the hype he receives, and he made a huge mistake in this particular game on that play.

He is too slow for the NFL, but if UK runs into a Georgia Tech in a bowl this year they will flat out need him in the middle.
