Highlands current quarterback (Towles) is not slow. He doesn't run much but when he does, he can move pretty well.

No, the question is: is Ft. Thomas going to walk out there with their tradition and history and scare or intimidate the JH players? I dunno. I don't really think so. Noone down here in Central Ky. questions Ft. Thomas' tradition, history, talent on the field this year, or overwhelming odds of winning this game.

 

What I do question is the chest-puffing arrogance of their fans on this board, and I do hope that Dingle and Savoy and the rest stick a needle in it. Maybe it won't happen, who knows. I know that St. X folks were predicting the same type of garbage over Greenwood last week and the Gators nearly stuck it in and broke it off.

Incidentally, I am merely the weekend shift. EasyPro, slobberknocker, dawgs, and a couple others will take their turns carrying the colors in different shifts agains the Union lines.

John Hardin has a very good defensive line, probably the best I have seen all year. When they go with their base defense and put 8 in the box, they are very tough to run on. I think they get in trouble when they go to their 3-4 nickel package, too vulnerable between the tackles with that look. I know Highlands has an excellent O-line but they will be challenged by that bunch from JH, really good looking kids up front.

 

Speed wise, JH is VERY fast. The Savoy kid is about as quick as they come at the HS level and Wright is not too far behind. Their QB does what he needs to do, runs the Wing-T extremely well but doesn't "wow" you with his arm. Favorite target by far is his big TE, Simmons. Kid always seems to get lost in space when JH runs waggle.

 

Overall, it's the ultimate test for JH, but I don't think Highlands is giving this squad enough credit. Well, I take that back, HHS fan's aren't giving them enough credit. Both teams will show up, you can count on that. JH will give up some points but they can light up the scoreboard as well, ton of athletes. Should be a heckuva ballgame, 14 points or less either way IMO.

 

A very good point. You can bank on the fact that the coaches and players are taking the challenge of playing JH very seriously. They've worked too long and hard to think they've got it in the bag and let up now.

See, that's where you're making the same big mistake that so many others have made. You're calling it arrogance, when really (in most cases anyway), it's just being bluntly honest. If the team wasn't backing up the claims, you could go ahead and play the "arrogance" card. But they have been getting it done, and have been impressive in doing so. It hasn't always been that way; so our fans are just enjoying the ride, like anyone else would.

EasyPro, just tell that one guy that you know to see if he can convince JH to mail in the trophy to Highlands. With their speed and talent they could beat the Indianpolis Colts. We're playing against the greatest Bluebird team in history. Heck, if they fielded just the awesome talent that they have on this message board, they'd beat JH by 3 TD's. We'd be lucky to be water boys for Ryle, and Dixie Heights, and Simon Kenton, what with all their glorious championship football history.
