Fort Campbell has struggled to get both Murray and Monroe County off the field the past two weeks, with both running different variations of the Wildcat. DeSales has a line equal to of bigger than Murray. Fort Campbell's defense must find a way to control the line stop DeSales from moving the chains or it could be an upset win for the Colts.

 

I'm looking forward to watching Ryan Johnson from DeSales play.

Both teams, Murray and MC, tried to control the clock against Fort Campbell; both teams came up short. Fort Campbell's ability to score quickly and get out ahead of opposing teams is critical. They did it against Murray only to let turnovers get the best of them. Against MC, they did the same thing.....got out to a quick, early lead.

 

With DeSales having an a line equal to or bigger than Murray....that could present Fort Campbell with some real problems, but can DeSales' defense stop Fort Campbell's ability to score quickly? DeSales had a hard time with the speed of Seneca (granted they're 6A).....but it's Fort Campbell's speed that keeps them in the conversation of the best teams in the state of Kentucky.

Know Desales has to be a real good team to get this far. As Monroe Co. fan have seen FC last two years and know they are a real good team also. From what I have learned about Desales they are a power team while FC speed team in that matchup I will go with speed every time. From one Falcon to another Falcon go FC.

I agree. While I stated that FC would win by no more than three TDs, it doesn't mean that I don't think that DeSales has a good team on the field. I just think that costly turnovers kept Murray close with the Falcons. FC didn't make those kinds of mistakes against MC (I think our Falcons only turned the ball over once) and it allowed us to build a bigger lead against MC.

 

I don't think that the Falcons will make those mistakes against the Colts.

 

Oh....what is it with Fort Campbell having to play "horse" teams in the finals lately? The last two years it was the Throroughbreds, this year it's the Colts.

I'm going to go with the upset here, DeSales has a BIG offensive line and I believe they pull the unbelievable upset.

While it is true that Murray had success behind a very big OL in the 2nd half of that game, the three turnovers certainly didn’t help the Falcons. If FC doesn’t turn the ball over or at least wins the turnover margin, they will win.

 

No doubt that DeSales is a great team; otherwise they wouldn’t be playing in BG, but the combination of FCs speed, playmakers, coaching, and experience will prevail.

 

Antonio Andrews is 28-0 as a starter, the seniors are 14-1 in the playoffs, and overall the Falcons are 5-1 in the Championship game.

I haven't seen Ft. Campbell play. I know they have great team speed. I don't think that will intimidate Desales. They don't make mistakes and they take advantage of yours. They may not have great speed but its not bad.

Their secondary is very solid. Their best cover men can play press and you won't find them out of position often. If Ft. Campbell wins by two touchdowns or more I'll have to acknowledge that they are an incredible football team.

From an "outsider" with no ties to either school - this is a real tough one. I have long admired the Desales program. What they stand for - what they have accomplished - and how they have gone about it. Hard-nosed, well disciplined kids. They have certainly paid their dues the past several seasons working up to this point.

 

For the past two years have had the opportunity at PJCS to be on the sidelnes during the FC Championship games. For all of the obvious reasons- had to pull for those kids, their program and what "their world" must be like. Have been impressed with them as well.

 

Real tough one to call. REal easy to be torn.

 

Maybe its the 'new guys" turn. Regardless - a real treat for the fans to see two classy programs play for the big prize !!!

I agree; the only team that can slow down FC is FC. Take care of the ball and the outcome is academic. Should we get sloppy like we did last year against NCC or this year against Murray, we could have a ball game.

 

There would have to be some strange planetary alignment occuring Friday afternoon for Antonio to get sloppy and lose his first game in 29 starts, as a senior in the state championship. (It is probably hard for those outside of FC land to fully appreciate the accomplishments of this senior class) All I can say is, "please come and see for yourself".

Fort Campbell is rightfully the favorite. After all, the Falcons have been here and won twice with essentially the same team.

 

With that said, and having seen DeSales first hand, the Colts have the whole package: size in the trenches, speed at the skill positions, a good leader at QB, good fundamental skill sets, intelligent game planning and playcalling, good special teams, and a very tough, disciplined defense. The only bad thing I can say about them is...their uniforms are a little on the muddy ugly side (LOL).

 

I have the sneaking suspicion the game will come down to whether Andrews can carry Ft. Campbell on his back. DeSales isn't the kind of team to beat itself - the Falcons will have to earn it.

 

It ought to be a very good football game !!

I don't know if anybody on any team is 100% going into game number 15 of the season, except for maybe some 3rd string punters.

 

Antonio is more then ready to play, but he is not the only weapon FC has in the cupboard. If the opponent focuses on stopping his run, he will throw TDs to a number of prime time receivers. We also have a four year starter at RB that has over 20 TDs this season and has past 1,000 yds rushing for the 3rd year. We have the most electrifying punt/kick return man in the state, he also has scored over 20 TDs this year. We have the state track champs as our defensive backfield. We have a LB with a state football championship ring, a state track championship ring, and a New Jersey state wrestling championship ring.

 

Not bragging, we love Antonio, but FC football is a lot deeper then one player.
