I would give a head to head edge to Crittenden over Beechwood because they had a superior line but I also must point out that Mayfield beat Crittenden 42-7 in the regular season but I think that had alot to do with a kickoff return to start the game and Crittenden's coach admitted that their game plan back fired the first time when they got away from smash mouth football and tried to be a passing team for the first time all year. This put Crittenden in a deep hole early and the game snowballed from there

2003 was similar to yesterday's Mayfield game. Danville's line just plowed through Beechwood all day. IMO it was more dominating than what Mayfield did.

 

In 2004, Beechwood came back bigger and stronger up front and did the same thing to Danville.

 

Let there be no doubt in anyone's minds that Beechwood will do what they need to do this off season and come back next year bigger, stronger and better. They have the talent coming and the work ethic is always there at Beechwood. The Beechwood fans will be rooting for Mayfield to make it back to the semis next year and coming to Beechwood for a visit.

Mayfield was the 2nd best team BW played this year...the whole package.

More size and talent is coming for sure. I still think next year they will be a little lighter than recent years in the size category unless some guys grow and/or bulk up significantly. There are several sophomores that have the frames to build on. There will be good depth next year so I see most linemen going one way, which helps.

There's no way so many soph's had any idea they would play such big roles on this team...if so, I'm sure they would have worked harder in the off-season. Now, let's see if they put the work in during this off-season.

As it can for any team in any given game. I think it's hard to say who is better than who when they haven't actually played. We can all speculate which is part of why we joined BGP. I can come up with the perfect scenario where Beechwood has a chance to beat Mayfield. It all comes down to match ups and how the game starts. Who gets the breaks and who makes their own breaks. You can take the top five or six teams and I think under the right circumstances any one can win. Not saying they would be the best team but in a given game they could win.

I have no doubt Beechwood will do what it takes to get better. I like playing teams like Beechwood and Danville because they have their bars set high like ours and have the resourses to make it happen. Crunce time said we were the 2nd best team Beechwood played I would presume Highlands as the best. Nice words. Good luck Beechwood. Until next year

I think Mayfield will be rated #1 in the state next year as long as they keep winning.

 

I agree an argument can be made for #3 in 1A this year between Beechwood, Hazard and Crittenden County, especially based one each of their last games.

I saw them play last year and I'd say Beechwood would win by 2 TD's. That was a VERY good ball team. They had it all, size and speed and lots of experience and some D1 talent
