Sounds a lot like my experience. The first 24 hours suck... lay down and take your pain med. Try not to swallow all the blood or your gonna puke in 6-8 hours.

Thats all ive been doing is swallowing but this pain is awful. I just took a Percocet so hopefully it goes away a little.

This is already 100 times worse than the Septoplasty I had done last year.

The percocet will help and should knock you out. Try not to swallow all that blood I puked like crazy after I did.

I had no problem with blood. I just kept changing the gauze when necessary.

Make sure someone takes your cell phone away. My son had his out and when he woke up he decided to call all his friends on his cell while he was completely out of it and a mouth full of cotton. His friends were all in class.:ohbrother:

Yea he went in and got 4 of them. My right cheek is the fattest Ive ever seen.

Hope today is better for you, good luck with it. :thumb:

I've never had mine removed, never had a tooth pulled actually and no fillings. What are you talking about when you say don't suck and what is a dry socket?

Feeling any better today? I feel for you. I got a dry socket it was awful.

Any type of suction can dislodge the clot that forms at the bottom of the socket. Bone fill occurs after the clot adheres and the inflammatory response is replaced with bone forming cells. You dislodge the clot and you get osteitis (dry socket). Sadly, it's not the same as a bloody nose clot that you can see, it dissolves and you'll never know. That is until the 3rd day typically when most dry socket symptoms start. And at that point, you wouldn't care if someone stuck an M-80 in your cheek and lit it.

Good luck Blue.:thumb:

I would have put a chipmunk in the middle of winter harvesting to shame. My top two teeth on each side were so impacted, the doc had to stretch my face beyond its limits. I had deep purple bruising running down both sides of my cheeks. I will never forget my now-husband drove 200 miles to check on me (we were engaged.) He took one look at me lying in the bed and said "oh honey, your face looks like a basketball." But the good news is, 15 years later I have no signs of being a basketball-face! Seriously, the swelling will go down, just please take it easy for a few days. Some people sail through this with no problems whatsoever, but it was one of the worst experiences I have had. Good luck!
