It seems that LJ will be inactive for at least this week's game, maybe longer.

"Because NFL veteran contracts are guaranteed at the start of the regular season, Johnson is still going to make a little more than $4 million."

I thought he was only going to make a pro-rated portion of the league minimum.

He'll make a pro-rated portion of the league minimum from Cincinnati.

The Chiefs are still on the hook for $2.1 million since nobody claimed him off of waivers.

^ And he gets to go to a contender. Pretty good deal for him.

11/17/2009 Signed RB Larry Johnson (FA). Waived DT Orien Harris.

Realistically, what do you expect the Bengals to get from LJ?

I'm not convinced that he's washed up, but I'm also not convinced that he isn't. It would surprise me to see him look really good, really bad or somewhere in between.

I think it was worth a shot though...at this point, it's not likely a guy is going to completely pick up the offense and be comfortable with it. However, that's not a problem with this addition. LJ has never been considered a well-rounded back who can catch and help in pass protection. But, he's big, so he can be used to pound the ball in short yardage and clock killing situations when everyone is expecting run, which will give Benson a break and save some wear and tear.

That's assuming LJ has something left. I believe he can at least bring that much to the table.

Don't forget, The Bengals play the Raiders, Browns, and Chiefs, next 3 games. If takes some of the load off Benson, maybe he will get back to 100%.

Could be interesting if LJ can get things going soon and have a big game against KC, would be crazy to have 2 different RB's post big games against their former teams within the same season.

Going by Marvin Lewis's comments today about it, I think he will be active for the game. Lewis said that LJ very well could play this sunday, but also very well could not play. I think he will be active, because I don't think they are going to risk Benson this week and will have Benson inactive for the game. So I think we will see LJ play some this week. Benson even said that this injury might take him a week to get over but that he definitely will be ready for the Browns game.

Is that the third or fourth time Harris has been cut? I thought LJ would be 31 this Thursday?

I don't have a problem with the acquisition of LJ since Cedric is injured but I'm not getting my hopes up too high. Luckily the Bengals have very winnable games coming up, and I hope to see Scott and Leonard getting involved in the gameplan, it could be a blessing since Cedric has been used and abused this season. LJ was once the next great back but after 820 touches between '05 and '06, he's basically been nothing more than weed b gone since he's always on the ground after short carries killing the lawn. I hope it's a positive experience for both LJ and the Bengals, they seem to have some guys who can police the locker these days.

Good pickup for them, IMO.

I wouldn't want that cancer on my team...
