November 18, 200916 yr I doubt this is true. Do you really think Adiddas would be cool with Nike taking ND football away from them? And 50 mil that is ALOT of money.
November 18, 200916 yr I don't think he can or would turn that down. Who would UF get in that scenario? Charlie Strong has to get a good look IMO. Kelly will no doubt be brought up. Stoops has Florida ties and would probably take it if offered. Petersen at Boise is going to start getting some looks. Say Urban Meyer does go to Notre Dame. I would really think of the Florida job if I was Stoops or Kelly before I took it. I mean who ever would follow Meyer at Florida, will be following a legend there. Especially if they do win the title this year. I mean no matter who would follow him, would be set up to fail compared to what Meyer did. I know I not sure if I would want to be the guy to follow Meyer if I already have a job that I am very successful at like Stoops or Kelly.
November 19, 200916 yr They were in the title game last year and played pretty well in it. Bradford getting hurt gives him a partial pass this season. I can't imagine his seat is anywhere close to hot. He has a title and a career 109-23 record... that is absurd. I like Stoops and think his job should be safe at OU. I just don't know that it will always be that way, even though I think he does a great job. Say Urban Meyer does go to Notre Dame. But these coaches also have their own egos. I don't think Meyer should take the ND job, but I do think that if they make that kind of offer at the right time he will take it.
November 19, 200916 yr If I'm Urban and I get offered that deal, I take it in a heart beat. I hope he doesn't, but if he does I can't be mad at him. It would be hard to turn that kind of money down.

November 19, 200916 yr What kind of raise would Florida be willing to offer to keep him? Not that much, they might be able to get something comparable, they probably couldn't match the incentives, but I know that he makes almost five a year now. In his book Meyer always said that Ohio State and Notre Dame were the two schools that he could accept the HC job at and his wife couldn't veto it. Meyer coached Wide Receivers and ran the special teams at Notre Dame when Bob Davie was the top dog. The ties are definitely there.

Why would they with names like Stoops and Kelly being thrown around I wouldn't mind it if I was Florida.
November 19, 200916 yr Why would they with names like Stoops and Kelly being thrown around I wouldn't mind it if I was Florida. Urban Meyer is a lot better of a coach than Bob Stoops and Brian Kelly. He's one of the two or three best coaches since Bear Bryant and the best coach of the last 20 years, if I were Florida, I'd throw every bit of money I could muster to keep him.
November 19, 200916 yr Why would they with names like Stoops and Kelly being thrown around I wouldn't mind it if I was Florida. Are you serious? Don't talk yourself into it because you are a ND fan. Meyer, while easy to hate, has had unbelievable continued success. Two titles in four years with a chance at three in five. Unreal.

November 19, 200916 yr What kind of raise would Florida be willing to offer to keep him? I think his current deal is 6 years 24 million after everything is added in. So they'd need about a million more per year with 4 more years included plus upping their incentives. Feasible, but I don't see them having a better offer for him. It's a matter of what he wants to do with his legacy, either he wants to be the one that brings Notre Dame back or he wants to continue adding to the tradition at UF. Some fans have grumbled a bit this year about the team, so maybe that could play a factor. He really has nothing else left to accomplish at UF so he may be ready for his "Dream Job".

Two titles in four years with a chance at three in five. Unreal. I agree. Urban is shooting at 3 titles in his first 9 years as a head coach. Anyone short of maybe Pete Carroll in the college game IMO is a step down from him.

I hate Florida and ND, but if it were me I think I would stay. Why leave what you have built at Florida? Maybe he wants the challenge, but I think continued domination of the SEC would be just as tough, especially with life after Tebow coming up. As a UK fan, I'd love to see him go. Personally, I think he's crazy if Florida can get close to the money and he leaves.
November 19, 200916 yr Who wants to look up how many starters on Florida couldn't qualify for ND? I figured that's what those "special projects" were all about. It was kind of vague, and I thought that's what those were.
