It doesnt matter how the format is layed out there will always be people critics who dont agree. Lets just deal with the ones who wont just suck it up and play some football. Good Luck to all those lower seeded teams who moved on!!!

It is also one more week that alot of schools get to play football. One more week of practice, too many upsides the way I see it. So what if there are some lopsided scores. Just seems like yesterday that Marion County was one of those teams on the wrong end of those lopsided loses, but glad we we got to play because it made us better today!

Just curious but how was Marion on the wrong end when they won 64-14? Im not being smart im just curious, are you for breckinridge?

Talking about about 4 years ago when we were blown out by Bullitt East in the first round. Glad we got to play even though we knew it was going to be a blowout.

So, 15 lower seeded teams won. That's about a 16 percent winning percentage clip for the lower seeded teams. Is it really worth all the blowouts to deal with a 16 percent chance of winning for the lower seeded schools?

 

Absolutely not, it doesn't make sense that if your a good team that the worst team you play all year is in the first round of the playoffs. Do you really think that a 2-8 or 1-9 team looks forward to getting beat 55-0 in a playoff game? And traveling an hour or two to do it. The playoffs are too long and too watered down anyway.

Honestly, I gotta admit I stayed home and didnt attend any games last night. Much of it was lack of sleep the night before but most of it was just the lack of competitive games.

 

Quite true! After watching the ICN6, local sports stations highlight shows, it was plain to see that most of the games other than Mom and Dad, few people attended the games.

 

This was the first/second week that I didn't attend a "Friday" night football game all season long and I looked for a local game to attend but nothing excited me enough to get out to watch a game!

Plus, one has to keep in mind that the "blowout" is not truely indicative of the level of play. The "blowout" is on during the 1st and 2nd quarters... and the score could be much, much worse if the winning team kept the starters in. The game I attended last evening was ugly after the 3rd TD on the 3rd possession within the first 3 minutes of the contest.

 

I did enjoy seeing the 2nd string down to the Frosh getting a chance to play, including my son, however I just have a hard time enjoying a non-competitive contest where the opposing team is getting schooled on the gridiron.

Sure there were teams ranked 3 & 4 who pulled upsets, but many shouldn't have had the chance to begin with. If you don't win in the regular season, you don't belong in the playoffs - bottom line.

I was at 2 vs 3 game where the 3 won in an awesome game but there wasn't 1,000 fans at the game combined to see a great game. Poor attendance all around last night IMO.

What we have to say about that is win a couple of more regular season district games and make sure you aren't a #3 or #4 seed. Consider your regular season district games must wins, unlike they are now.

 

This system is truely awful. Too many teams in the playoffs. Too many really bad teams in the playoffs. Too many state champions.

The KHSAA seeds football and gives the local district no choice but in basketball the local districts can choose and some (not many) choose not to seed for petty and selfish reason, which have nothing to do with having quality teams move on!

Some of you are confusing the issue. I'm not against 4 seeds. However, when there are about 35 to 40 40+ point margins its obvious that the first round OVERALL is a problem. Some of you are the masters of the obvious by pointing out that there are "some" good games. No kidding.

 

I'm not sure if you get beat 70-7, 54-8, 49-0 if you're actually "enjoying" the experience or getting better for next season.

Anytime you have your kids for one more week, that is one more week of practice to get better....that is more important than anything.
