Mayfield dominated! Scoring on 7 of first 8 offensive plays!

 

Really could have scored 120, Mayfield took 2 knees on possesions inside the Caverna 5 yd line and also went for it on 4th and long on two occasions turning the ball over to Caverna deep in their own territory.

I have never seen a team score 43 pts in the 1st qter

I agree, 6 classes is just not working, ridiculous drive to get flattened by 70 points. Anybody with a red jersey on tonight scored. Our second string QB was putting on the points in the 2nd quarter.

 

Don't blame classification for spread scores. Caverna just isn't very good and Mayfield is likely the best team in 1A. Wouldn't matter what the situation. The spread scores started years ago when four teams came to the playoffs, not when the other classes changed. And how about just getting over it and enjoying a good win. Or must there always be something to complain about.

:thumb: Hate that Caverna had to go through that. But It was good of the Mayfield coaching staff to try and hold the score down some. :thumb:

Beechwood had 42 in the first quarter versus Dayton this season. I am sure there are other teams that have put up similar Q1 scores this year, but it is always impressive to see. Mayfield will cruise into the state semis. Will that hurt them when they finally face a tough team and a tough game in the semis?

I would think that it would help keep the team fresh and healthy. They have already been in a few wars. So they know what is coming. And when and if they get to the 4th round they will be fresh and not all banged up.

Good coaching should have a team up. If Mayfield plays Beechwood in the semis at Mayfield it doesnt matter if they have cupcake games in between. Mayfield will be ready for them and Bwood will ready as well. I look for Crittenden to play tough and Mayfield will not overlook them. A wet cold night lets the underdog have a chance. Ballard will be tougher than Caverna, then the next game tougher, You know how it goes.

I also think that when we all gather at WKU to watch the championship game, Beechwood will be on one end of the field and LCA will be on the other, but those are only my thoughts.

One thing is for sure...no matter who comes out of the west this year...they will have earned it!!!

I think Beechwood's getting alot of credit because of past teams and they've had some great ones. This year just isn't one of them, in my opinion and playing at Mayfield won't do them any favors. It'll be a competitve game, but, in the end, I think Mayfield will prove to much for the Beechies to overcome.

It looked like Mayfield was just doing what they do. Now a couple of weeks earlier, I'd say they were making a statement by taking out the previously unbeaten CC Rockets on their home field in convincing fashion.

 

Last Friday, they came out very workman like, focused, and maybe a little upset from the week before. To put it kindly... Caverna is really just a not a very good team. Every one of the top teams in class A would have likely put up the same score... or more if they chose not to take a knee in the red zone just before half and again just before the end of the game.
