ESPN 30 for 30: Without Bias

Featured Replies

Did anyone else check this out? I thought it was an excellent documentary. It's the first one of the 30 for 30 I've seen, though I've wanted to check them all out.

I caught just a little bit of it. I was very much into it though. Very sad story!

Man would have loved to have seen this one totally forgot about 30 for 30 tonight.

Len Bias and I were born the same year. I remember the day I heard about his death like it was yesterday. Like several people on the show said tonight, his tragedy helped alot of other people. I know it made me never want to experiment with any drugs. I could feel his parents pain as they talked about their son, and Len's younger brother who was tragically murdered. As a parent myself, I cannot even imagine going through what his parents went through.

I was 4yrs old when Len Bias passed away. Along with Hank Gathers, he's one of the those players I wish I could have seen play during his time.

The Bias story was pretty well done. Very sad story, that changed many lives.

Kudos to ESPN for putting this series of documentaries together, as they've all been tolerable at worst to excellent at best. But, I really wish someone had done one on the bolded as part of the series. What a great story to tell with Hank Gathers and how everything unfolded. It's a shame a lot of people will read this and have no idea who Gathers is, and what happened.

Coincidentially, I was pouring over some old video the other night and found a Loyola Marymount NCAA tournament game that I had taped. I had no idea I had it, but man it was kind of fun to watch. :thumb:

Michigan game?

I knew Bias was a stud but his highlights were phenomenal. IMO he was far ahead of Jordan just as athletic, bigger and a better jumper as a collegian. Such a shame that it ended that way, and for his parents to lose to children at such a young age is tragic.

I was amazed at how his mother took everything. She was very strong through tragically losing both of her sons. I can't even imagine going through something like that.

Michigan game?

I wish, but no. Wyoming.

I've been hit-or-miss about watching this series (but I've loved what I've seen).

Do they stream this episode online? Len Bias was one of my all-time favorite players, and remains one of the best college players I've ever seen. He was absolutely, indomitably, undeniably freakin' incredible.

I have been trying to find a way to watch them online myself. That was the first one I've seen but I've really wanted to watch them all, especially the Ali one.

So he died of a Cocaine overdose but I was in and out of the show and didnt follow. I thought I heard them say it was an extremely pure amount of cocaine found in his system that killed him. However, his father said he didnt have any signs of coke found in his nose? I was a little confused by it, maybe someone can clarify how he actually died.

You can usually find it online. Google ESPN E 60 and you'll find some old ones. However, ESPN also replays them. I saw the replay of the previous week's show on Ali last night.

Do you have a DVR? That's the easiest. Just set it the whole series to record.

They did say it was "pure" and wondered how he got it.
