I don't know about the other team they could add, none of the Basketball only schools have a legitimate football program, perhaps Villanova, but it would be a long shot. Every BCS conference should have at least ten schools IMO.

They're not averaging 9,000 a game in FCS play and they're ranked 6th in the nation. They simply can't meet the attendance requirements to qualify as a FBS team, so that's not going to happen. Memphis and UCF are actively campaigning to join the Big East, though. Problem is, both want basketball. Could the Big East or SEC operate, especially in basketball, as a 20 or 24 school league? Why not?

November 1, 200916 yr Temple is traditionally an awful program. Just because they are on a bit of an uptick is no reason to assume it will last. Troy is a nice program, but really doesn't bring much to the table as far as the BEast is concerned. EC and Navy make the most sense if someone can't be lured away. I still think Memphis St. would be a good option.

November 1, 200916 yr To me, the only way expansion happens in the Big East is if the Catholic, non-football schools were to break off and form a complete different league for basketball. That would be DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall, Villanova, and maybe Notre Dame. That would be a good basketball league, but some of those schools are low-end in hoops. I just don't see it happening. Like someone else said, the only way the Big East gets bigger in football is if Notre Dame were to join up, and perhaps Georgetown and Villanova were to move up to Division I on the gridiron. And none of that is happening any time soon.
November 2, 200916 yr Right now, each BE team has 18 conference games in basketball, only 3 of which are return matchups (USF plays all Big East teams once, but only plays Cincinnati, Providence, and Notre Dame home and home this year). If the Big East, adds 4 football/basketball schools and schedules basketball the same as football, play each team only once (19 games). This could work. For football... Yankee Division: UConn, Pitt, Syracuse, West Virgina, Rutgers, Cincinnati Dixie Division: Louisville, USF, ECU, Memphis, UCF, Southern Miss.
