November 1, 200916 yr Author Maybe UK should switch to the Big East. Seems like the SEC is just too much for them, what with having to compete with "Florida Speed" in the South. Thinking WAY outside of the box, it would be interesting. I am not for it at all, but it would give UK a chance to compete for the conference in football and would be way more challenging in basketball. You joke about the speed in the south that we have to compete with, but it is the reality of the situation.
November 1, 200916 yr I don't want this to turn into a Big East/ACC thing. If the Big East ever wants to be a real legitimate conference I think it needs more teams. No way thats possible with the basketball circumstances.
November 1, 200916 yr Right now only UL and Cuse fit in the "BAD" category, and I think Cuse will be back to solid in the next season or two. I really like the staff they have in place and don't think it will be long before the Robinson disaster is fixed. As for UL, we'll see how that goes in the next month. Then there are 6 other programs that range anywhere from good to very good right now depending on the season. The Big East is not nearly as bad as some want to make it out to be as it is without addition... Funny to think when the conference was formed UofL was thought of as the big dog.... :lol: And UC was bad team. Boy, how things change. UofL will stink until Kraggers is gone. Jurich will got out and get them back on the map, but Krapthorpe has messed them up so bad it may take two years for a new coach to fix.

November 1, 200916 yr Fair or not, USF, Rutgers and UCONN are simply not "established" programs (neither is UC really). 25% of the teams in the conference are awful and the others, with the exception of UC and maybe Pitt, are going to beat up on each other because they are really just average teams. Going forward... they need more teams to be looked at as legitimate in the eyes of the rest of the country. A few very good teams at the top, a few awful teams at the bottom and average in the middle. Yup, sounds like every other BCS conference...

I'd love for Kentucky to be a top 2 team in the conference every year and there are some rivalries that could really take place, if they move.

With the 8 non football schools involved, they simply do not want an uneven "seat at the table" in the conference. If, and when, football expands it will likely be at the expense of most (if not all) of the non football programs who will likely branch off and form a new conference. There is a lot more to it than just going out and finding a few schools that want to join for football only...

ACC got better football team, but the Big East got better basketball teams. The Big East realized, when the ACC stole Va Tech, BC, Miami) that they had to focus basketball. I thought you were leaving the ACC out of this anyway?:lol: I would argue that every year since the switch, the Big East has had the more elite teams. The ACC has been very weak, winning only one BCS game. If you look at the history of the BCS, they (ACC) have been easily the weakest. UofL, WVU and now UC have been better than anything the ACC has served up.

UK would not be top two every year. They are not as good as WVU, UC, Pitt and USF this year. I honestly would put UK on the same tier as UConn and Rutgers.
