November 2, 200916 yr I really have no clue. That's why I asked... After reading about it, I guess it doesn't. Beautiful new practice fields are the latest upgrade to the E. J. Nutter Training Facility, one of the nation’s showcase football facilities. The new surfaces were installed in the summer of 2005, including two beautiful grass fields along with a full-size sports turf field. A special drainage system and stadium lights also were installed, giving the Wildcats a state-of-the-art practice area. The Nutter Center, as it is called on the UK campus, encompasses over 48,000 square feet. Originally constructed at a cost of $5.7 million, the facility officially became the home of Kentucky football in 1987. Aside from dressing facilities, which feature large, personal lockers for every Kentucky football player, the Nutter Center is highlighted by a 9,000-square-foot weight room. The weight room has 100,000 pounds of free weights in addition to numerous strength and conditioning machines. The Nutter Center also has 11 meeting rooms, a state-of-the-art video and editing room for coaches’ film, equipment and training rooms, staff and player lounges, a sprint track, sauna and jacuzzi, an aerobics room, and three racquetball courts. http://www.ukathletics.com/athletic-dept/nutter-training-facility.html
November 2, 200916 yr I'd need a few questions answered before I'd say BK would take a serious look at UK. 1. How much is UK willing to spend not only on a new big name coach, but the staff that he would bring along with him? BK has had most of these guys with him since GVSU with a few being by his side for most of his entire coaching career. He's not going anywhere without those guys, and he's going to expect a lot of money to be thrown their way. 2. Does UK have a full scale indoor practice facility for football? If so I find it a bit odd that I've never heard about it. I'll start with those two... I can't answer question #1, but the answer to question #2 is "YES". The Ervin J. Nutter Fieldhouse is next to Commonwealth Stadium. http://www.ukathletics.com/athletic-dept/nutter-field-house.html

That's what I was looking for, but my link just mentioned the outdoor fields.

I'd imagine they'd be willing to pay whichever assistants their next hire wants to bring in, assuming they feel strongly enough about the head guy. 2. As a few have already alluded to, yes - The Nutter Center, which is right next to Commonwealth Stadium.
November 2, 200916 yr 3. What is the S&C Coach situation at UK? Not many know this, but the next highest paid person on the staff at UC is S&C coach Paul Longo. He is, more than anyone else, BK's right hand man and I don't see him going anywhere without taking Longo along with him for a large chunk of money...

Sounds like you might be nervous? I think Kentucky's got the money, but I think they've also got their man in Joker Phillips. Right or wrong...
November 2, 200916 yr They need to upgrade the whole staff and head coach, because this team will not be a high caliber team until they get better play calling. Be inside the practices and then you can say that. I know from coaching that the best play call is as good as the execution and last I checked coaches aren't out on the field. The players have to make plays. If they don't you coach them up until they can. But coaches can only do so much.

You're right, but how does the coaching staff not see that Randall Cobb is our best option at QB and the Wildcat is our most effective offense?
November 2, 200916 yr I was asked a question, and want to get facts/opinions on the things I know it will take to get BK to leave. Guess I'll stop... Awww, it was a joke. :isurrender: Please accept my apology for answering your question(s).

Kentucky's assistant coaches salaries are not even in the same stratosphere in the SEC. http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2009/jan/22/33m-salary-for-assistants-may-top-nation/ Alabama set the standard when Nick Saban came on board. Tennessee took it to another level when Lane Kiffin and staff took over. My guess is that Tennessee defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin ($1.2 million) makes close to more annually than all UK's assistants combined. Head Coach in Waiting Joker Phillips is at $312,000 and coordinators Steve Brown and Randy Sanders are at $308,000 and $242,683, I think. Edited November 2, 200916 yr by strongopenyon
