For the life of me I hate hearing that "MY TEAM got better over the last 5 weeks" (thus implying that OTHER teams didn't).

With all that's been said in this thread.....I don't think that the title is Trinity's until they are beaten (as one poster said). They have been beaten, and beaten four times more than anyone thought they would at the beginning of the season. Much the same way that the title is not Fort Campbell's or Highlands. The title is there, ready to be taken. Trinity, Highlands, Fort Campbell and all of last years champions are just that, last years champions. They're not defending anything because nobody can take that away from them.....this isn't a game where the trophy moves from school to school.

 

Each season is a new start, there are teams that continue the previous years dominance (Fort Campbell, Highlands, etc.) and there are teams that get a run of losses (Trinity and NCC to name a few). But the trophy that will be presented to the winner of the 6A Commonwealth of Kentucky Championship Game is only Trinity's if they are in that game and they win that game. Regardless of past history and opinions, they are NOT the favorite this year.

Just a small point of clarification, Trinity actually has only been beaten twice more than most thought at the beginning of the season. The loss to Lawrence Central was not expected, and the loss to Louisville X, although some will say it wasn't expected in the pre-season, is a toss up, at best, among the Trinity faithful. Most of us go into that regular season game knowing it's a 50/50, although it's been more like 75/25 or 80/20 recently.

 

The rest of your post, I agree with. I just think most "in the know" are not surprised we lost to Elder, or to Cincy X. We knew what we lost from last year's team, the time it takes to "get it all together" in the Trinity system, and the challenges that would come from playing what may be an unprecedentedly tough schedule for Trinity. However, the 0-4 start doesn't look good on paper. But, in experience points, I think most who are long-haul Trinity fans will accept and understand the losses in the overall scheme of things.

 

I certainly feel no sense of despair over one "sub-par" season. But, then, through my son, I've lived through a similar season, and know from him what the ultimate goals of the system are. They're definitely long-term goals.

I disagree. For the past couple of seasons Trinity was "not the favorite" headed into the playoffs, and yet they were the team left holding the trophy. I'll believe they are not the 6A champs when I see another 6A team hoist that trophy in December.

I'm curious as to what happened with the fan in the Trinity stands that had CPR performed on him near the end of the game (was in the original 'updates' thread, but since it got closed at the end of the game, I've seen no other mention).

 

Hope they're okay. Our prayers are with them. (We had a young lady injured in the stands during our game tonight as well.)

Again I must disagree. Obviously Trinty is a "good-very good" team and have not been beaten by any other KY team except X- similar to the past few years.

 

Why is anything different this year as compared to the past when they were hammered by X in the regular season? History has shown that it doesn't matter how bad X has beaten them during the regular season, who is on the present team, how close other teams play them, or any other factors. The program under Beatty continues to win the big one and until they are knocked off, they are the favorite!

 

Now if you want to say that X or SK or others appear to have a team capable of beating them this year, I can't disagree--But it has to happen first!

The Rocks came out flat against Lexington Catholic. It's tough to say why, maybe because this class of Seniors has beaten them so easily since their Freshman year, it's hard to say. What I will say is this Rock team is lead by a great bunch of Seniors. They might not have the names some of the previous classes have had, but they understand the legacy that has been passed on to them. They have played the toughest schedule in school history and are growing tired of hearing how great the Freshman and Sophomore class is from their fans. When those classes achieve State Championships which we no doubt think they can, then we can look back and call them some of the best teams there ever was. Until that time, this current group of Seniors has been part of two State championship teams and realizes this is their year to lead and pass along the legacy to the younger Rocks. This team will go through the playoffs and hopefully win number 20 because of Senior leadership. Coach Beatty has said just that. Those of us close to the program understand this has always been Trinity's advantage. Go Rocks!

Does Trinity have a radio broadcast for the games anymore? If so, how do I find it. I'm sure they have radio coverage but I can never find it. Any help T fans I would appreciate.

I believe he was referring to when Trinity's current senior class played LC's current senior class as freshmen.
