October 27, 200916 yr ^I guess I should have said half those on your list...and I meant to include Tressell, but simply had a brain fart.
October 27, 200916 yr 3XCats, the problem with your argument is that there are no facts behind any of it. The only thing against Richt right now is that he hasn't won a national championship. You say he underachieves every year, but only have one year as an example. He is an extremely consistent recruiter and extremely consistent winner in a conference that has dominated the decade. Saying, "Any other coach could do it at Georgia" has no merit because has shown, not anybody could do it at Florida or Miami and Georgia is not as elite as those two programs. I'm sorry, but the facts outweigh your opinion in this one by a landslide. Georgia was sure tearing it up before Richt got there...how many titles did they win in the 90's? I can't seem to remember.
October 27, 200916 yr Luck has nothing to do with it. Had they taken care of business early in the season two years ago they would have had a shot. That's comical. Luck doesn't play a role in a championship decided by human voters and computers. Are you kidding me? Just like LSU took care of business, right? By losing to UK and Arkansas. Just so happens, they didn't get screwed over by a tiebreaker and prevented from playing for the SEC Championship. Georgia finished with the same record as LSU, but was denied the opportunity to play them...everybody knew the Bulldogs and Tigers were the two best teams and that's the game that should have been played to eliminate one from contention. Also, should Auburn have taken care of business when they went 13-0 and didn't get invited to the big show? I would say that it was just bad luck, but luck isn't a factor in the only major championship that's not decided on the field. :idunno:
October 27, 200916 yr You never really specified, I made the connection because Richt used to coach under Bowden. My bad. I didn't specify because we were discussing Terry to begin with. No harm.

October 27, 200916 yr I think Kiffin has proved, at least IMO, that he belongs in the SEC. Chip Kelly is a first year guy, but he's really not. He's the one that took the Spread Option to Oregon and has had alot of the HC duties for the past few years. Like I said, to each his own. Did I criticize you when you placed Richt in the top ten? Did I laugh? The answer is no. Have some respect for people once in a while. I may be wrong, but it is my opinion, and at least I'm not looking for people on this site to make fun of. What on earth has Lane Kiffin proven? They're riding a stout defense, but we all knew daddy was one of the best defensive coaches in the business. With one coach you throw up his resume and say it's better than Richt's...then with the next you say his resume isn't as good, but he's just better. I think Richt is just better. That seems like a good place to end the debate.

That seems like a good place to end the debate. 1. Lane Kiffin had a great game plan against UF and Bama. Teams that should have destroyed UT, escaped with narrow victories. I guess taking a team that didn't make a bowl last year and playing well against the two best teams in the country just isn't impressive. Especially, without the threat of a downfield passing game. Silly me:rolleyes: 1A. Kiffin, with another coaches players (who couldn't win last year) destroyed Richt's Georgia team. Sure UGA is "rebuilding", but still you would think that nearly a decade into the job he would have a team that could at least compete with a team that Kiffin has been coaching for a few months.:idunno: As many have asked for....THAT IS A FACT! 2. The reason that the ones I've mentioned don't have the resume is the fact that they are still working up to get a better job. Just on coaching talent alone Chris Petersen for example is much, much better than Richt, IN MY OPINION. 3. Like I have said this is MY OPINION. I said to each his own. I said these guys seem like better coaches.

Had OU not have gotten into the Big12 Title last season and Texas did, they would have no argument either. Take care of business. Auburn did have back luck, because they were undefeated. UGA wasn't so they have no complaints. If they were undefeated in 2007 they would have played for the title. Very invalid argument and a stretch, IMO.
October 28, 200916 yr Bobby won the Orange Bowl, but saying he has achieved much more than Brooks is pretty absurd. You're right, Brooks winning a bunch of non-conference games to get to bowls is a great accomplishment...talk to me when he gets UK out of being a bottom feeder SEC school.

October 28, 200916 yr You're right, Brooks winning a bunch of non-conference games to get to bowls is a great accomplishment...talk to me when he gets UK out of being a bottom feeder SEC school. I'm talking about their careers. Bobby has been a head coach for what five years? He had a good run to the Orange Bowl in a weak conference. All of the sudden he has "accomplished" more than a guy who's better around since the 70's? Next...
October 28, 200916 yr Rich Brooks laid the foundation for the success Oregon football enjoys today. He took over a program, that by all accounts was worse than UK situation he stepped into, and ended his tenure there with a trip to the Rose Bowl. So, it's not like Rich Brooks coaching career started at UK. Perhaps he's just one of those guys with a knack for getting the job done in seemingly unwinnable situations.

October 28, 200916 yr Just for fun here are the Sagarin ratings... with overall ranking in "( )" Florida (1) Alabama (2) LSU (12) Ole Miss (27) Kentucky (28) South Carolina (29) Arkansas (31) Georgia (35) Auburn (40) Tennessee (41) Mississippi St (57) Vanderbilt (129)
October 28, 200916 yr That can't be...luck doesn't factor in to the BCS Championship. Luck has nothing to do with it if you have a loss. If you lose a game don't cry because you aren't in the title. If three teams from BCS Conferences are undefeated they have some bad luck, or a bad schedule. But, no there's no difference there:idunno:.
