1. UF- Until they get beat, need to improve vertical passing game though.

2. Bama- Close number 2. Still need to see more offense though.

3. LSU- May slide down from here, or could possibly sneak into the SEC Title game.

4. Tennessee- I know their record isn't as good as some others, but their defense is nasty. I think they are going to take down South Carolina this week.

5. South Carolina- Will start to lose a few IMO.

6. Ole Miss- Should be above SC, but due to head to head SC gets the nod.

7-9. Arkansas, Georgia, UK- in any order. None of the three is in the class of the above teams right now IMO.

10. Mississippi State- They may have the least amount of overall talented in the SEC, but they are very well coached. Good showings against LSU & UF.

11. Auburn-wheels starting to come off a little bit.

12. Vandy- Same Ole' Vandy.

1. Florida

2. Bama

3. LSU

4. South Carolina

5. Tennessee

6A. Ole Miss

6B. Georgia

8. Kentucky

9A. Arkansas

9B. Mississippi State

11. Auburn

12. Vanderbilt

Before everyone falls in love with UT, let's remember that Auburn game when they got pushed around on their home field.

I know they lost, but I still think the Cats are better than South Carolina.

1. Alabama

2. Florida- need to get in gear or they will fall way down this list.

3. LSU- not sure they are this good but right now no one else has stepped up in the SEC.

4. South Carolina- like LSU not sure this is where they go but no one else stepped up.

5. Ole Miss- finally starting to look like a team with some potential. Could win out with only really tough game left being LSU at home.

6. Kentucky- they could fall in a hurry, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt right now because they've earned it.

7. Tennessee- I don't see Kiffin getting it done regardless of UT and UF game. Look at their performance this year it looks like they really show up to play in the big games, don't win them (just like when tenn. assistant Ed Ogeron was at Ole Miss) and then no one knows what they do for the non big games. In Bama and Florida they seemed to have a strategy of let's play not to get blown out and not a strategy to win.

8. UGA- every year but the Hawaii Sugar Bowl win UGA has finished below preseason expectations in the Richt era.

9. Arkansas- may be to high but they beat Auburn soundly and Auburn beat Miss. State soundly so it's all I've got to go on right now.

10. Auburn- Hey, I've got a joke for you want to hear it? Gene Chizick

11. Miss State- playing really hard for Mullen but Miss. State only has one coach in their history to leave state and not have an overall losing record. That coach was Jackie Sherrill who finished 75-75-2.

12. Vandy- had crippling injuries this season that has hurt them tremendously. Their offense leaves a lot to be desired with or without the injuries though.

^Check your facts on Richt

Every year I feel like Georgia is a let down, there may be a year or two here or there I've missed but a majority of the time his teams have been a let down. The year they won the SEC they choked to West Virginia in the sugar bowl that was played in Atlanta that year. I mean the guy has consistently had let downs. Florida owns UGA in the Cocktail. He's been blown out by UT many years when his team was easily the favorite this year sticks out, then a few years ago UT was huge underdogs and won convincingly under the big orange pumpkin.

What years do you really feel like he lived up to and exceeded expectations?

Very solid.

I had forgotten about the 02 season, but I still feel Richt is generally a let down. I hate that because he seems like a genuine guy that really does a lot of good for the community, but he is just too inconsistent for me last year and this year seem more like the real Mark Richt than 02. If he had beaten WVU in that sugar bowl I might have given him the benefit of the doubt, but that was a complete choke and really since that game he not done anything to change my mind about him. The big win over Florida a few years ago looked like it could be a good start, but he hasn't done much since.

I would also like to add that Petrino is now 3-10 in the SEC now so all the UK fans should take shots accordingly.

He is 6-2 in bowl games... 4 SEC East titles and 2 SEC titles. I like him a lot.

If not for Ron Zook I would have a lot more respect for the 4 SEC East titles, but Florida wasn't Florida then and that accounts for the time of a few of his SEC East titles. We just aren't going to agree on this, but you do defend him well. I may be to short sighted in this too. I was really high on UGA last year like a lot of people and I really felt let down by him. That along with the WVU Sugar Bowl a few years ago just took all my faith in him.

HT721, I agree with you on Mark Richt. I think that he is a good coach, but not a great one. He isn't the man to take UGA to the next level, or to take over at FSU as a few want. The joke in the SEC is that Georgia gets less out of more than anyone else. And it's true. UGA should have been a player in the title race last year, but Bama exposed them and then UF humiliated them.

I disagree about Petrino though. He's a good coach. His offense is really young, or atleast I think it is, and they are going to continue to get better. I don't think they unseat Bama in the SEC West next year, but I think they could be a major player in the SEC race. I think that once Mallet gets more games under his belt in Petrino's system they are really going to impress people.

The SEC isn't as great this year as it usually is, but in the future it's going to be insane. Bama and UF have, IMO, the two best coaches in America right now. Tennessee has one of the best staffs, and Kiffin is one of the best young coaches in the game. LSU should be back to normal next year, Mississippi State is going to continue to improve. Houston Nutt is going to always have undervalued talent at his disposal. I think Auburn is going to continue to get better if they keep Malzahn around. UK is becoming a consistent team, and should continue to improve. If UGA can find a QB they will be back. The SEC is going to be straight loaded for the future.
