And I knew you wouldn't agree. I don't think you can allow yourself to side with me on any issue.

It's cool. Some people like stats which is fine. They just don't really impress me that much.

If SC is 4th or 5th the SEC is down.

OK, fine. The SEC not being down in the early part of the 2000's is a joke. When the Conferences two top programs aren't winning to their normal standards, a conference is much weaker. Bama and UF haven't been at this level for the entire decade.

This is a pathetic argument really. We arguing over a guy that is pretty irrelevant on the National Level. UGA isn't a title contender and won't be a serious one under Richt. Drink the Kool-Aid if you want. Richt is a 2nd tier coach, like it or not. :deadhorse:

Drink what Kool-aid? Nobody ever talks about Richt. He is underrated and overlooked on the national scene. What is a pathetic argument? I'm confused by that? Georgia isn't a player on the national level? Hmmm really? Three BCS bowls, finishing in the top 10 every year, leading the SEC in wins, those all disagree with your inaccurate statements.

For the first part... I stated my claim for Richt and then you disagreed. Since that time, you have done nothing but offer opinions and claims with nothing to back it up.

Some people like stats, but you think they don't mean much? That is a good argument when comparing QB rating or something like that. Using that when talking about wins, conference championships and bowl records is a joke.

UGA has played for how many MNCs while Richt has been there? They might as well be Boise State.

Stats matter but you act like they are the only thing to take into account. Stats are a gauge, but if you only look at the numbers you don't see the entire story. Stats tell you Richt is a good coach, watching UGA against other top talent tells you differently. Richt's first BCS bowl win was impressive as it was against FSU. The loss to WVU shows the strength of the SEC that year, IMO. WVU had a good team, but better than an SEC Champion? They shouldn't have been. The Hawaii game is garbage. Everyone, well everyone who actually watched both teams play saw that murder coming. That's like a HS 2A district Champion matching up against Trinity or Saint X. Richt is really overmatched by elite coaches. For Pete's sake they got demolished by Tennesse a few weeks ago. Crompton shredded them. Players like David Green, DJ Shockley, Moreno, AJ Green have made Richt's career at UGA.

Last season with a "Title Contender" UGA got embarrassed by Bama and UF. I think everyone sees that Bama and UF were better, but a really good coach with that team would have at least made it a good fight. He's 2nd tier and stats don't have to tell me that. That's what I have eyes for.

^There you go referencing only games that the public would remember. If Green, Shockley, Moreno and AJ have made his career, shouldn't get get some credit for getting them there :idunno:

I'm done with this one though. I knew Richt was a good coach and the more we dug into it, the more I found out how right I was :thumb:

You mentioned the BCS wins, so I gave them to you.

Also being right on this subject is in the eye of the beholder, IMO. I don't think that it is a FACT that he is a really good coach, and I don't think that it is a FACT that he is a bad coach. It's really up to opinion. Obviously we look at football totally differently and that's fine. I say don't criticize my opinion though, which is what all of these discussion start with. You have your opinion and that is fine, but don't act like I'm stupid because I don't agree with you. Just because someone is pretty abstract in how they think about sports doesn't mean that you are right or have a better opinion. I would like the criticism to go around the other way once in a while though.:D

BTW, I think the at the World's Biggest Cocktail Party coming up that Richt is going to prove just how good of a coach he really is. Coaches with less talent than him have played UF pretty tough, can he do it in a rivalry game? My guess is no and the game is going to resemble last years.

Just because we disagree on a coach doesn't mean we look at football totally differently. I get where you argument comes from, but just don't think there is much to it in this case. The facts/stats far outweigh the other stuff in this one JMO.

Florida is due to look like Florida, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets ugly. Plus, this is a rivalry game Florida gets up for every year.

Richt is easily one of the top 10 coaches in the game today, maybe higher....

To each his own but I'd take:

Saban

Meyer

Carroll

Tressell

Rich Rod

Frank Beamer

Paul Johnson

Chris Peterson

Brian Kelly

Gary Patterson

Les Miles

Mack Brown

Big Game Bob Stoops- the unluckiest coach of all-time.

Petrino

Mike Reilly

I think with more experience as a HC:

Kiffin

Sark at U-Dub

Bo Pelini

Chip Kelly

Dan Mullen

That my list off the top of my head. But like I said, to each his own.

He's been more successful than most on your list, and you really think guys with less than a full year experience are better...

FWIW, I'd take the following coaches before Richt...

Meyer

Saban

Stoops

Brown

Carroll

Beamer

I think Kiffin has proved, at least IMO, that he belongs in the SEC. Chip Kelly is a first year guy, but he's really not. He's the one that took the Spread Option to Oregon and has had alot of the HC duties for the past few years.

Like I said, to each his own. Did I criticize you when you placed Richt in the top ten? Did I laugh? The answer is no. Have some respect for people once in a while. I may be wrong, but it is my opinion, and at least I'm not looking for people on this site to make fun of.

I didn't criticize you, I questioned the quality of your list. No more, no less. Lighten up a little bit, it's all good natured debate.

You are thinking of the wrong Bowden :thumb:

You never really specified, I made the connection because Richt used to coach under Bowden. My bad.

Richt is easily one of the top 10 coaches in the game today, maybe higher....

Meyer

Saban

Petersen

Carroll

Rich Rod

Les Miles

Mack Brown

Bob Stoops

Whittingham

Patterson

Paul Johnson

Frank B

Jim Tressell

Jim Leavitt

Brian Kelly

Kirk Ferentz

Off the top of my head, they're a better coach than Richt. Richt is in one of the best areas in the country for recruiting, he gets his recruits, but still can't produce titles.

Also, more successful than most on here?

Saban- 1 MNC. 3 Conference Championships (1 at Toledo), 4 5 division Championships.

Meyer- No need to discuss.

Carroll- No need to discuss.

Tressell-1 MNC (4 NC's in 1-AA), 5 Conference Championships. 3 MNC appearances.

Rich Rod-4 Big East Titles. Dramatically improved WVU, Tulane. Really impressive at UM this season.

Frank Beamer- Legend.

Paul Johnson- Not a great resume Championshipwise, but Navy pretty much can only win the Commander-in-Chief Trophy.

Chris Petersen-Not even close. Wins against the Big Boys.

Brian Kelly- Not even close IMO. What he's done in his career as a HC is amazing, and he's not been at great football programs.

Gary Patterson-Doesn't have the resume, but I still like him better.

Les Miles- 1MNC. Puts him above Richt anyday.

Mack Brown-resume speaks for itself.

Big Game Bob Stoops- the unluckiest coach of all-time.- He does seem to lose the big ones, but his resume still looks much better than Richt's.

Petrino- Has had an impressive career, but resume-wise isn't better. I still believe he is a better coach, and would have already won a title if he had a decade at Georgia, IMO.

Mike Riley- what he's done at Oregon State is amazing, considering they are pretty much the UK of the Pac-10.

Just my opinion, but I think many people would have these coaches above Richt talking coaching ability. Many of these guys do not have the programs or athletes that Richt has and still win. Would Richt have UC undefeated and in the title race? I doubt it. How would TCU be with Richt? I don't think they'd be as good. Does Richt beat that OU team in the Fiesta bowl with his UGA team, let alone Boise State? I doubt it.

Richt recruits well. Good players can get you some wins. Richt often seems to get outcoached.
