October 22, 200916 yr Yesterday, I was buying 2 large bags of Purina dog chow at Walmart for my mother in law's dogs Shadow and Spartacus. I was about to check out when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think? That I had an elephant? Since I had little else to do, on impulse, I told her that, no, I didn't have a dog. I was starting the Purina Diet again, although I probably shouldn't because I ended up in the hospital last time. On the bright side, though, I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of every hole in my body and IVs in both arms. I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was enthralled with my story by now.) Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food had poisoned me. I told her no; I had stopped in the middle of the parking lot to lick my butt, and a car hit me. I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack, he was laughing so hard! Yeah, but. Since you were buying the dog food for your mother-in-law's dogs, the question remains. Maybe you don't have a dog, :idunno:
October 22, 200916 yr Yeah, but. Since you were buying the dog food for your mother-in-law's dogs, the question remains. Maybe you don't have a dog, :idunno: Exactly what I was thinking.
October 23, 200916 yr Oh my! Tony is falling out of the chair again, and, i spit coffee on my computer again....seems like old times at BGP!!! I loved it!

Maybe you don't have a dog, :idunno: Exactly what I was thinking. And you both would be wrong. It was nice to meet you at the Wal-Mart the other day Henry. Even if I didn't know it was you at the time. :ohbrother:
October 25, 200916 yr And you both would be wrong. It was nice to meet you at the Wal-Mart the other day Henry. Even if I didn't know it was you at the time. :ohbrother: How can we be wrong, we really didn't state anything. We just kind of pointed out the obvious. You were buying the dog food for you mother-in-laws dogs, correct. How does that imply that you have a dog?

Even if I didn't know it was you at the time. :ohbrother: What, are we having impromptu BGP gatherings in stores now?? The last BGPer I saw was sidelinedoc in Kroger's (it's ok, though, he didn't remember me, either).:idunno:

How does that imply that you have a dog? You stated that I might not have a dog. That is wrong. I do have a dog.
October 26, 200916 yr You stated that I might not have a dog. That is wrong. I do have a dog. I don't want to take away from what is a good story, but let me try again to break this down for you the way I see it. You were buying the food for someone else's dog, how would anyone know you had a dog? The purchase of an item does not necessarily imply usage/ ownership by the buyer. For instance, suppose I was in line three people behind you buying the same dog food for my aunt. A lady asked me if I had a dog, and I replied, "No I don't but...", we ended up having a conversation about my aunt's dogs. Just as likely a scenerio based on your description. Like many of us, I've purchased feminine hygiene products on a rare occasion. I certainly wouldn't want those in line around me to jump to any assumptions that I must have a, umm...dog. I'm sure you get my drift.

Do you try to analzye every joke told by a comedian if you go to a comedy show? :ohbrother: Let me also ask you this. If you're in line behind somebody who is purchasing two big bags of dog food would you ask them if they had a dog?

Not such a good joke if that was the case.
October 26, 200916 yr Author That woman may have been mentally handicapped. Not such a good joke if that was the case. No, I make sure when I'm telling jokes that I don't make the women in them mentally handicapped. :ohbrother:
October 26, 200916 yr No, I make sure when I'm telling jokes that I don't make the women in them mentally handicapped. :ohbrother: I was hoping that about you, but I wanted to make sure.
