When comparing apples to apples, Mt. Union has got the best program going right now. It's hard to argue with 9 national championships (and 2 runner ups) in the past 12 years.

 

Obviously, though, the "big boys" would have an advantage if it came to head-to-head with the Purple Raiders.

 

If you're just looking at Div I, then offensively the Bearcats (with Pike!) have the top spot, while the Bucks would get my nod on defense. (It's hard to pitch a shutout every week, knowing that your offense is going to struggle.)

Ohio State would probably be unefeated too if they played Fresno State, Oregon State, Southeast Missouri State, Rutgers and South Florida.

 

If you really think oSU would win at South Florida and at Ore St I'm not sure I can convince you that they aren't that good. Purdue had how many wins coming in? Fresno isn't terrible either. Let me ask you this though...name me better wins for oSU than at Rutgers, at So Fla, and at Ore St. Good luck.

The game last year in Corvallis was under different circumstances. Oregon State has a Thursday night game, against a team that was, at the time, considered a threat to be one of the best teams of the decade. Oregon State got the crowd into the game early, and USC was caught asleep. I don't think you can discount UC's win there, but to say that it was the same as last years game against USC is also misleading.

 

UC is good, but they aren't and will not be looked at the same way as that USC team was at the time. Big game for UC, but had the Beavers won it wouldn't have been a monumental upset, like the USC game was.

 

I say it doesn't matter who the best team in Ohio is. OSU is overrated. UC is about as good as that program can be at this point in time, but I don't see them winning the title. UC vs. OSU would be alot better game than most expect, and either team could win, IMO.

I also think OSU would struggle with USF. Their offense is not very good and their defense is average. It's very possible OSU might lose 3 more games this season.

All I will say is let UC play USC and see if it's even close in the 4th. I bet Pete Carroll is resting Barkley because he's up by that much.

They can't score. Their defense has to be close to prefect. They dominated USC and couldn't win. I would bet my left arm that UC would put up 21 or more on them. They had 1 offensive TD last week or they wouldn't have won that game either. I'm not saying UC is great, but they would beat oSU 8 out of 10 right now.

 

Now this may come off as crazy, but only Bama in the top 5 has been more impressive than UC and VTech isn't that good so Bama's big win isn't that great. UC has as good of wins as anyone in the top 5 IMO. Boise has the best win of all of them, also IMO.

Possibly, but UC has done as much or more w/ their schedule than USC has done. They were lucky they beat two teams who they outcoached.

USC has lost their last two trips to Corvallis FYI. Plus UC was the highest ranked OOC team to ever play there and Oregon State had a 26 game OOC home winning streak on the line. The crowd would have been very into it if UC didn't control the game from the 2nd Q on...
