Rockmom loses it in a McDonalds.

It tells me as well.

I think some of you pass too much judgment and reach some conclusions prematurely on here. I really don't think you can form an opinion on someone based on a sentence or two on the internet, which were made in an attempt to joke around.

I think some folks like a good fight... :idunno:

Are you going to assume I always had the "I don't get paid enough to care" attitude while at work based on one or two posts on BGP?

I didn't get paid enough to ask every single customer who forgot to order something whether or not that was all they wanted multiple times. I always asked them at the end if they wanted something else, and they were given other opportunities to change their order when they came around to pay.

I did my job and I did it well, any of my bosses would tell you that. I was always friendly to my customers (unless they were rude to me, but that is another story) and I was even complimented numerous times by customers for smiling and being friendly. I had customers go and get my bosses and tell them that I should get a raise/promotion before, simply because I was helpful, and nice to them.

I apologize if my perception is incorrect. I just see that attitude quite a bit in that particular industry and it irritates me.

I understand. There are some people who have the "I don't care" attitude all the time at their jobs.

I have only one question for Rockmom . Since it has been over a day , Have you found it yet ?

I got paid $6.10 an hour to deal with a bunch of rude customers and do dishes (when I took orders in the back line, I had to do dishes as well). I wasn't doing any more work than I had to .

If someone wanted a drink bad enough, they would have told me about it.

That seems like a pretty bad attitude to take toward your job.

When you work with the public, it doesn't matter if they're rude to you. It's part of your job to deal with it and treat them good.

The customer is always right, even when they're wrong.

I worked in Customer Service for a few years.

I gave my best effort every time I walked up to a customer or answered the phone. Regardless of what kind of day I was having, I left life on the outside and didn't let it interfere with my performance..

So now when I'm the customer, I look at things a little differently. I am the most pleasant customer you'll ever encounter, because I know what life is like on that side. I commend great performances every time I see them... But when I get poor service, I now have absolutely 0 patience and it does not take much to set me off at all. When you go out of your way to be good to people, it's nice to feel like you're getting the same treatment that you give out sometimes.

Rockmom, I've had similar meltdowns before a few times. In my opinion, you were totally justified, but I could be crazy.

And it seems like you missed some of my other posts in which I said I was just kidding.

That's not necessarily true.

The customer is not right when they are screaming at me, cursing me out for no reason what so ever. They're also not right when they flip me off for no reason. Both of those things happened to me when I worked at McDonald's...and both happened to me unprovoked.

Can we please get over my few posts from earlier? I was kidding, let's move on and discuss Rockmoms situation.

I don't care what they were doing, the right way to handle them is to be courteous and get a manager if it gets too much for you.

Sorry, but I had to reply to what you said. It's also a pet peeve of mine.

You don't know how I handled the situation. And my point is the customer is NOT always right like you said in your original post.

Then you might not want to consider working with the public in the future. Just my opinion. It's not something that's for everyone.

The mantra "the customer is always right" is a classic for good customer service. RTS didn't start it. It's been around forever.

No, the customer IS right in almost every situation. As a customer service rep., you have to decide if pleasing any particular customer is worth whatever financial sacrifice you're making on behalf of the company. You have to remember that one displeased customer will generally cost you about 10 more -- sometimes even more.
