I think this is going to be one of the most interesting stories to follow this post season. The way it is shaping up this year, I will not be surprised if Simon Kenton wins it all. And believe me, I am shocked to even think that but I do. Don't get caught up in the past and discount the present. This Simon Kenton team is very special and Miles Simpson is the kind of player that will make game changing plays against any opponent. Against Boone County last night, Simpson had 293 yards and 5 TD's on 14 carries ... in the first half. Boone County may be down a little but they are no slouch. In a district everyone expected to be one of the toughest in the state this year, Simpson has gone over 200 yards against every district opponent. I know Trinity and X fear no one and they have earned that. But they better respect and perhaps start to worry a little bit about Simon Kenton 2009.

Possibly. I have said in regards to NKY big schools over the years that I will believe it when I see it. Could this be the squad that finally does it? Maybe.

I agree. Overall, football seems to be down some in NKY this year, and I think that includes Class 6A in NKY. Simon Kenton is clearly the best 6A NKY team, but I'm not ready to draw the conclusion that SK is better than T or X. Perhaps SK has improved a great deal since losing to Henry Clay a few weeks back, but if not, then I don't expect to see them get past T or X in the playoffs (I think someone said they would play X).

Well, point to me a game that Ryle has played against a non-NKY team this year, to show that they are able to play well against a non-NKY opponent.

 

Also, SK's one chance to show their stuff against non-area opponents resulted in a loss to Henry Clay (and they lost by more than one score).

That is a valid point. Ryle lost to Highlands of course and will play them again. But the N. Ky. 6A teams have not stepped out of the area much. Conner beat Oldham County. Boone beat Lafayette and lost to Scott County. That's about it.

In previous years wins over Beechwood or NewCath would mean a lot for these teams, but not so much this year.
