I agree Bellevue going for 50 points, but I hope he doesn't go for 300 and shouldn't have last week.

#5, Have you ever played the game? If so then you know there becomes a point where you have to play your guys no matter what the score is. If they go through the next 3 games without playing into the 4th quarter then they will not be in game shape to play Beechwood.

When Brossart and Walton become the teams I think both have the potential to become this will once again be the best class A district in the State.

I can't argue that. :thumb:

This shows the closed minded approach that some people have. This post makes it seem like Bellevue kept Buckler in the whole game just to get 300 yards.

When in fact Buckler accomplished that feat with only 17 carries, which 12 came in the first quarter. Sometimes you just can't help it when one team completely dominates the other.

I will say that Buckler gets at least 250 this week.:ylsuper:

He got 77 of his yards when they were up 40-0 with just over 8 minutes left.

Yes, I've either played or been involved in the game for a long time. And I've seen many a year when Beechwood is pulling people at half or earlier week in and week out. That's called having class.

Have you ever played the game? If so you would know that 99% of the conditioning comes during practice. So don't give me that. If you ONLY got it in the game your set up for disaster. Do you only lift and run on Fridays if you want to get in shape? Didn't think so once a week doesn't cut it.

5 carries after the first quarter!!!! That alone should tell you the coaches weren't trying to run up the score or pad his numbers. He usually gets 25-30 carries a game. It is a fine line when you need the work and when your blowing a team out as to when you should pull your first team. Should the coaches leave him in the game to get playing time? Should they take him out? Should they give him the ball and say just don't break a long one? He is going to be in some lopsided game to get reps. These are still better looks than what he sees in practice because they are game situation and against varsity kids. Not making excuses but as I have said in other post I think over all the district is down this year. Which means he will be in some lopsided game to get the reps that all players need to get better.

Big difference in conditioning and game time. You prepair in practice. You get better in games. In years past I would agree with getting them out because of the good competiton within our district. Let others play on the rare occasion when you would get way up. This year Beechwood will be faced with the same problem when it comes to district play. Do you leave players in to get playing time or pull them week in and week out after the first quarter?

You have your opinion I have mine. Neither is right neither is wrong just different.

Beechwood may be in trouble then. Beechwood pulled most of their first team at the end of the first quarter last week. I guess they are going to do extra conditioning work in practice?

IMO ... any starter in a 40-0 game in the 4th quarter is a bad decision on many levels. I would hope if Bellevue is up 40-0 in the fourth quarter this week that the starters all get a chance to watch and root for their teammates who also work hard every week.

I saw the game and i can tell you Bellevue was subbing a lot in the 2nd quarter. I was sitting right next to the parent of a JV player who was getting reps early in the 2nd. In my years of watching HS football it seems that coaches want to get to the "running clock" and then make wholesale changes. I think a team has to be up 45 to have a running clock. That may be why Beechwood had the starters out in the 2nd quarter against Dayton, they were up 49-0 at the end of the first quarter and they had the running clock. Also, that was only Bellevue's 2nd offensive possession of the second half when Buckler scored the long TD.

I saw Bellevue's game against Bracken last year. The Tigers were up 40-0 in the first half and Coach Eckstien took out all the starters. The next thing you know the score was 40-22 and the game lasted about 2 and a half hours. It would have been smarter for him to leave the first stringers in another series, score again, get to the "running clock" then get the younger players in.

I do not care if he got 1/2 a carry after the 1st. It was not right for him to be on the field in a 40-0 game with 8:27 left. He is one of the best backs in the area right? No need for him to be in there.

I'm done arguing this. We both obviously have our own beliefs.:thumb:

At what point do you think a quality player should come out? 20-0?, 30-0?, 40-0? 2nd quarter of a big win? 3rd quarter of a big win?

Buckler goes for another 300 and Wills even passes for over 100. Bellevue D continues the trend and the second consecutive shut out occurs.

That is a valid point. However, just as a point of clarification, the running clock does not come into play until the second half. But your point is still valid in that they had the running clock secured for the second half. I can see a coach trying to get to the 45 point mark but once you get to the fourth quarter that is not as valid an argument. I still disagree with a starter being in a game in the fourth quarter up 40-0. Once you get to the fourth quarter with that score, it is a no doubter to put the starters on the bench, especially the offensive starters.

That's your opinion. Agree to disagree.
