#5 What is the issue with the score. Look at the entire state score board I am sure there were many more scores more lopsided than 47-0.

As far as Bucklers yards go if you have an issue why don't you have it with the defense for Walton, he broke two tackes at the line and flat out ran two players who had pursuit angle on him!:bunny:

This shows the closed minded approach that some people have. This post makes it seem like Bellevue kept Buckler in the whole game just to get 300 yards.

 

When in fact Buckler accomplished that feat with only 17 carries, which 12 came in the first quarter. Sometimes you just can't help it when one team completely dominates the other.

I am sorry however there is no good explanation at all, to have one of the better runningbacks in the area still in the game in the 4th quarter when its 40 to 0. He is really good, so you know if you give it to him that there is a good chance he will bust it. There is just no reason for that at all. Now if he gets hurt in a situation like that, and hurts Bellevue's chances to do anything in the playoffs, they have only theirselves to blame.

#5, Have you ever played the game? If so then you know there becomes a point where you have to play your guys no matter what the score is. If they go through the next 3 games without playing into the 4th quarter then they will not be in game shape to play Beechwood.

 

Hmmm I never seem to remember Beechwood still keeping their starters in when they are up by 40 something in the fourth. I mean we all have been there before with Beechwood, and basically everytime Beechwood takes them out. You didn't really ever see them keeping their guys in, and say well we need to be prepared for when we play NCC, or the next opponent in the playoffs. I mean come on man, your better than that. You know that is not a good excuse at all, and is just very classless. If the situation was opposite and it happened to Bellevue, then I am sure you would be saying the same things as people are right now about it and how that is not right. I mean being up 40 to 0 in the fourth, and the still giving the ball to one of the best runningbacks in the area is just not right no matter what you say.

At what point do you think a quality player should come out? 20-0?, 30-0?, 40-0? 2nd quarter of a big win? 3rd quarter of a big win?

 

If your up by 40 in the second half, the majority of your starters should no longer in there. Then come the 4th quarter none of your starters should be in there, especially when you have one of the best runningbacks in the area.

Big difference in conditioning and game time. You prepair in practice. You get better in games. In years past I would agree with getting them out because of the good competiton within our district. Let others play on the rare occasion when you would get way up. This year Beechwood will be faced with the same problem when it comes to district play. Do you leave players in to get playing time or pull them week in and week out after the first quarter?

You have your opinion I have mine. Neither is right neither is wrong just different.

 

Are you serious man? I mean Beechwood every year basically wins easy against everyone in the district. Every now and then a team gives them a good game, but even your Bellevue team usually gets beat pretty good by them. (This year should be a good game though.) But every single year when Beechwood is basically having a cake walk through this district, you don't see them playing their starters and their stars in the 4th quarter. I know I just said this in a previous post, even when NCC was still in the district. You didn't see them playing those stars in the 4th quarter and saying we have to get our guys use to the 4 quarters so we are ready for NCC. I mean Beechwood USUALLY plays with class, especially during their time under Coach Yeagle before. Yet you never seen them have a problem with it, they still did just fine by sitting their guys in the second half. I mean come on man, this is just a really bad argument you are using here. Top teams usually do pull their starters. I know Bellevue is not use to being one of the top teams, however they need to learn when they have a team like they do this year, that they need to play with some class in games like this.

 

With all this said, it wouldn't have been as big of a deal to me if it was still just the third quarter. I mean then your argument I could understand some. However if your up 40 to 0 in the 4th quarter, then there is just no reason for it no matter what. I mean I don't care if Bellevue only touched the ball once on offense in the third quarter. Once that 4th quarter came around, then people like him should not have been in and definitely not getting the ball.

30-0 in the 2nd QTR let someone else run the ball / stop passing (what ever) work on some other plays that you need to improve. Let the others who show up everyweek and work very hard too. If the other team scores then put him back in (if needed).

With this whole Buckler thing, I think that most schools like Ludlow, Dayton, Brossart, etc. are just mad that they have had these types of numbers put up on them. Buckler's yards were done with class and out of the spirit of competition. You simply can not tell a kid to stop playing/running/whatever because the other team isn't any good and can't stop you.

 

As far as the Beechwood comparison from last week, I can guarantee you that Buckler would have been out too, if Bellevue would have been up 42-0 at the end of the 1st quarter.

 

Those arguing about the 300 yds that is just crazy. Who cares?? He put up 300 yds, it's really not that big of a deal.

 

I know if I were coaching and if my back can get 300 yds and my team can score 40 or more, then I am going to do so. If the other team gives up these types of numbers then their coaches and players should have prepared better and played smarter football and that my friends is the bottom line.

 

Football is a man's sport and if you can't handle giving up 300 yds rushing then don't play. I hope Coach Eckstein allows Buckler to get 300 against Ludlow and Dayton as well.

I'm not crazy about putting the starters back into a game that is not real close. What's the difference between winning 30-0 or 30-17?

 

Guys that have been standing on the sidelines for an hour can get tight, maybe their heads aren't quite as into the game as they were in the first half; any number of reasons to keep them out of the game.

 

However, I DO NOT subscribe to the theory that "they could get hurt". That can happen on any play at any time; just seems to be magnified when a starter gets hurt when the game is all but over. I just don't see the value in bringing starters back in unless the outcome hangs in the balance.

Schools also have a responsibility to get these kids noticed by colleges. 6A schools, and traditional state powers (like Highlands, NCC, and Beechwood) are all scouted by recruiters. So, teams like Bellevue, Dayton, Ludlow have to do what they can to get their kids noticed.

 

So, 300 yards and 4 td's are necessary in some cases. I know the Buckler family and they do not have a problem with Ricky putting up these kind of numbers if schools like Georgetown or Campbellsville will show interest.

 

BTW, I know somebody is going to say "He has the chance to get injured", but that is all part of playing football.

 

Bellevue wins rather handily.
