Nebraska is very good offensively. They should have score around 30 or more on VT but they killed themselves with penalties and what I believe was suspect play calling in the red zone. Dont let the 15 point total fool ya they moved the ball all over the place just failed to get in the end zone for whatever reason.

 

As for this game the Canes should win handily.

 

I watched it, I just don't think they are a really good offensive squad in the sense that Miami, Oklahoma, and others are. They moved the ball all over the place, but it's not like VT is their up by their normal defensive standards. Too many missed tackles for that.

I'm not doubting your knowledge at all. I just don't think 'Bama's offense is as good as Miami's. If it is then you will be very happy this season, because with Saban's coaching and Bama's Defense the Tide would win the title rather easily.

 

Wouldn't you say that Bama's defense also had a little bit to do with their offensive numbers? Not directly of course. But if you play lights out defense, your offense gets the ball more and they start to wear the opposition down.

 

I don't think that Alabama is the type of team that is going to put up 500 yards at a consistent basis against top competition.

 

I also think that Miami's recieving corp as a whole is the best in the country. No one will say that yet, but over the next few weeks they are going to start getting some love. Remember they have been playing without their "top" reciever the last two weeks.

 

We'll agree to disagree. I hope you're right about 'Bama. I'm a huge Nick Saban fan, and I'd like to see them win the SEC (unless UK can make a miracle :lol:). Va. Tech's defense has not played all that well this season. Granted they have played good teams. But they play a good team this weekend too so that's irrelevant. If Va Tech plays man up close like they tried last week it will get bad. Not to mention they are giving up 200 yards+ on the ground so far this season. I picked Va. Tech due to the immaturity of the Canes. But it could very well go the other way real fast. Should make for a very interesting game! Cant wait to see it it's game of the week for me for sure!

I have Time Warner cable, live in the Ashland area. And it looks like on ESPN they will be showing either OSU/Illinois, or Miami/Va. Tech. So HOPEFULLY that means one of them will be on ESPN and the other on ABC!:ylsuper:

I have to disagree. Nebraska and Marshall? Those are not good offensive football teams. Bama is good, but their offense will settle down once they get going in SEC play. You can't be serious with Nebraska and Marshall offensively. I really like Nebraska, I actually said on here a few weeks ago that if they beat VT they would be undefeated for a while and maybe break the top 10, but they are not a really good offensive team. None of the teams that VT has faced have anywhere near the offense that Miami does. Bama has Julio and a great RB core, but I'd take the Miami WR core over the Bama core. RB is close as a whole, but Ingram is the best of the bunch. Line is nearly even, I think that Miami's seems to have jelled a little earlier. QB is not even close. Offensive coordinators are not even close either.

Miami has a resurgent program that seems to finally be meshing talent with discipline for a change and all that is good for College Football. I just wouldn't crown them yet. :thumb:

I don't think that an excuse should be made for their defense against Nebraska and Marshall. Those are not all-world offenses. VT has a bad defense, especially against the run and I don't care if they've played Texas or Eastern KY.

 

The only way Miami gets beat is if they are overconfident. Virginia Tech is bad on both sides of the ball, and simply cannot score enough to beat Miami, if the Canes take care of the ball. Lane stadium is probably worth 7-10 points, but that at the Hokie offense might give you 20 points. That isn't going to beat Miami, especially with VT's defense.

I take Harris any day over McElroy. Harris is more of a threat and has better touch on his passes. To me it's no contest.

Hey, I'm not arguing if they are good or not. I'm just putting up statistics. The truth will be tomorrow and you are probably closer to right than anyone on how it should play out. No easy way out for me. If VT wins I will eat my crow and say I'm wrong. I will say this alot of things would have to go wrong, IMO. VT is just not that good, I just think that anything short of an injury to JH12 will not be enough for the Hokies to stay in the game. Canes real test will be next week, I think Oklahoma has a very, very good defense.
