After the previous 8 years, it's been a refreshing change.

 

However, far be it from me to threadjack. Perhaps President Obama is "out there" so much is because a) people want to see him (otherwise, why book him on your show); and b) he is capable of stringing words together in a way that is reasonably intelligent.

I've spent all night and all morning looking for the anti-Ben Chandler thread. I spent a good deal of time looking for the anti-Mitch McConnell thread. I even tried to find an anti-Steve Brashear thread. But all I keep finding are these daily anti-Obama threads.

 

Seriously, the complaint in this thread is about the president making too many appearances. He's the president. He's pushing some ideas that he thinks the country would benefit from. He's attempting to counteract the misinformation his opponents are throwing out. You don't have to agree with him or even like him, but it's foolish to complain about him making appearances to talk to the American people. Especially if that's the only point of the thread. Because it looks petty and insignificant.

Which is exactly the tone many of these threads take.

As long as he doesn't save lives playing a Dr. on the season premier of Grey's Anatomy or takes Mike Wilbon's place on PTI, I am okay with it.

In my classroom, we keep the news on almost everyday for most of the day. We rotate throughout the day from CNN, Fox and MSNBC.

 

Not sure if anyone else has ever noticed, but Monday thru Friday Obama is speaking somewhere every single day of the week. They are always going to an Obama speech.

 

Either Bush didn't speak this much or they didn't cover it.

 

But we have a running joke in the classroom, it's time for the Obama speech of the day.

Bush didn't get out and speak nearly as often as Obama, especially after the Iraq War started to turn sour.

I saw a report on the media strategy of the WH. They use O's media starlet status to direct the news that is being reported.

 

They know what he is doing that day will be the headline of the afternoon news.

 

And so they have him out everyday to drive what the first story of the newscasts will be.

 

And then in the afternoon if a story is breaking bad for them or they don't like the tone, they send something or him out in the afternoon to do something to change the tone back to where they want it.

 

Pretty good strategy.

Obama is merely using technology and media (all currently influential forms" to their fullest potential.

 

How is this any different from when presidents started using radio for regualr broadcasts? Granted, they may not have been daily. But today, everything is immediate, visual, and interactive. The web is the biggest presence out there, and TV still is strong.

I agree. Great strategy and his has a media that supports him on it.

 

What will be interesting will be if the media follow a President that they did not support who uses the same strategy.

 

MSNBC usually shows everytime he speaks.

And at the beginning they showed every press conference that Gibbs had.

Fox does not show everytime Obama speaks.

 

Put a Republican in office in 2012 and it will be interesting if the roles reverse.
