Terrorists Looking to Attack Sports Stadiums?

WNYW-TV: U.S. counter-terrorism officials have issued security bulletins about terrorist interest in attacking sport stadiums and hotels.:scared:

I'd say this is nothing new, subways, busses, sporting events, conferences, and large banks. All great targets, shoot if they even attacked a NKY football game and had a 70-80% casualty rate then we could still be talking about over 1,000 people. Scary but this just doesn't seem like news to me.

This normally means that they've intercepted some information or picked up on a plan or plot.

Great....I work in a hotel. I wonder if a computer geek can get hazard pay?:idunno:

Then the folks in Jacksonville should be fine.

Sports venues have been considered prime targets since 9-11. Where else are you going to find 30,000-100,000 people condensed into one spot?

Yea but I lived scared for about 3 or 4 years following 9/11 I'm just not going to get hyped up about this stuff. I recognize it's still a threat even if it's not being warned about. Eventually we may not intercept the right info when we need to, but I hope we still trying dilligently to do so.

I wouldn't even be as concerned about LARGE venues as much as smaller ones. Less security at smaller ones but can still have a huge impact. If they were to attack a few HS or college events in a few different states, the ripple effect would be HUGE. People would be afraid to go about their daily lives anymore, parents would even fear sending their kids to school. It would go a long way. These people are smart, and they know that.

70-80% casualty rate at Giants Stadium would equate to a heck of a lot more than 1000 people. Try 55 to 65K.

These guys must read Tom Clancy novels.

Honestly, every time I'm watching a televised sporting event, this crosses my mind whenever the picture disappears for a second or two.

I thought about this while I was watching the Cowboys the other night. Over 110,000 there! I'm going to Washington in 2 weeks and will be at Camden and Fed Ex Field for the Skins/Bucs game. That's a little scary I suppose!

There weren't over 110,000 in the stadium. From what I read, over half of the 30K who bought the $29 standing room only tickets had to stand outside and watch on a monitor. I read that many of the fans felt ripped off after paying the $29 plus outrageous parking fees, and all they got to do was watch the game on a big TV.

Read my post again, then do the math again. I'll give you a hint, the New York Giants don't play in NKY at a college or hs campus.
