Afew yrs. back Coach C. left and went to pikeville and the bobcats really went down hill until he came back the following yr. then they went on to win the state title in 02. He was a very inportant part of this team. Also the Noble kid and the Huff kid really hurt when Noble wouldn't play for Holcomb and the Huff kid transferd to Letcher Central which is doing really well in a rebuilding yr. I wonder what Supt. Turner is saying now.

 

Come on now, under Coach Holcomb who went 98-99 12-2 and 11-2 with out Coach Chapman. I see your point Coach C. is a awesome coach and Pike Cent. will be a better program under his leadership, but Coach Holcomb did not get to where he is at with out some great coaching of his own. Breathitt Co. will be fine the season is not over with yet. Watch for a Bobcat run in the playoffs this year.

One thing is for sure, Perry Central definately has to be considered a favorite to take that district this year.

I think that they are. I don't think that Breathitt will be in the finals this season if they don't get things going soon.

Had like 70 yards against PCC. Perry defense is the real deal this year.:clap:

I agree with you they had better worry about other things over there or they will be watching someone else battle for the title.

PC district is shaping up to be a very good district. It seems every team in that district is pretty solid this season.

Jordan Amis is a game changer. Good to see that Coach Browne knows how to use a small athletic QB to get the most out of him. He is also lightning in a bottle. And don't let the quickness fool you, he can throw the ball as well.

 

PCC is going to be a major factor in their district/region this year. Browne has them back on track.

One thing is for sure, Perry Central definately has to be considered a favorite to take that district this year.

 

Don't forget about Whitley County. Nice win for PCC. I saw them scrimage and wasn't impressed at all, I expected them to struggle without Travis this season.

Last year they lost to Sheldon Clark by 2, Hazard by 2 and Prestonsburg by 1.

I questioned that after he left, but I never thought it would have made this big of an impact.

 

Most people in Breathitt County who know football aren't surprised by the impact of losing Chapman.

 

The first time he left, the defense dropped significantly. Then, he returned, and in his second year back, the Bobcats sported a stout defense that was a huge reason they won their third title.

 

And, last year, the Bobcats defense is why they made it to Louisville.

 

His absence leaves a huge void, IMO. But, I was hoping it wouldn't be felt as bad until next season...the first time he left, we still had enough players returning to execute and we had a pretty strong defense. But, the second year after the defense couldn't stop anybody.

 

This is a bad loss for the Bobcats. It's gut check time for sure. If they bounce back and turn it around in the next couple of weeks, this season could a disaster of epic proportions.

 

But, give PCC credit. This is a huge win for them and their program. Nice job. I think people take the Commodores too lightly...I think they have a very good coach and they've been improving every year. A blowout win over Breathitt County will get them some attention.

True...they've had some good teams without Chapman. But, they've never made it to the finals without him. They've only won one regional championship without him and that was in the year immediately after he left.

 

His presence coaching the defense makes a huge difference for the Bobcats.

 

But, I doubt he'd have changed the outcome of this game.
