September 9, 200917 yr I rarely go in Wal-mart but when I do I always use the self checkout line. I usually don't have to wait long. See, I use the theory that if I use an actual check out person, then someone has a job because I need them there. Plus, if you take your own bags at the one I go to, you don't even have to take your stuff out of the basket. They come around the counter and scan it in the basket and put it in your bags for you. It's really quick if you bring your own bags! I just always get stuck behind a family of 80 with a plethora of singly wrapped twinkies, or two liters.
September 10, 200917 yr I'm guessing the "gc" in your name is for Greenup County. If it is, there is a Target on I-64 at Barboursville. If it isn't for Greenup County, then please disregard. I don't want to put words in gc's mouth, but I always thought it was Gallatin County. If I'm wrong, it wouldn't be the first time.

I was at a gas station the other day behind a guy who bought $260 in Powerball tickets.
September 10, 200917 yr One thing I don't like about Wal-Mart is the lines, and there are always employees standing around talking at the check out area. Last Saturday a man screamed out he needed help. We thought it was a medical problem, but he was in the self checkout line and the attendant wasn't in the area. He wasn't a happy camper to say the least.

September 10, 200917 yr :lol:Funny that you mention that because it seems to be Wal-Mart code that all of about 4 of the 45 lanes are open no matter how busy they are! Drives my spouse up the wall - we shop early in the morning on the weekend - 9 to 10 am. I think they need lean training.
September 10, 200917 yr I don't want to put words in gc's mouth, but I always thought it was Gallatin County. If I'm wrong, it wouldn't be the first time. If that is the case, then I would think the Target in Florence would be much closer than Lexington.
September 10, 200917 yr A few random thoughts from Boondock... I've never understood why stores like this always have 53 checkout lanes even though it is apparently illegal to open more than 3 at one time. I beg of you people, if an abacus is the most advanced piece of technology you own, please do not use the self-checkout lines. You're going to stress yourself out and all of the people behind you that you slow down. Generally speaking, Wal-Mart seems to have better prices than Target with the exception of certain products. With that being said, I'll shop at Target 7 days a week over Wal-Mart if given the option. It's not because I think Wal-Mart is evil but mainly because Target is always cleaner, more organized, the workers respond to questions in complete, coherent sentences while helping you and it's generally just a better atmosphere for shopping.
September 10, 200917 yr I don't want to put words in gc's mouth, but I always thought it was Gallatin County. If I'm wrong, it wouldn't be the first time. I always thought it was Garrard County...lol
September 10, 200917 yr I always thought it was Garrard County...lol Could be Grayson Co, Graves Co.....Just sayin....
September 10, 200917 yr If Target got the business/traffic Wal-Mart did it would not be the appealing place it is now. It would not be as neat, clean, or shopper friendly.
September 10, 200917 yr Could be Grayson Co, Graves Co.....Just sayin.... I would say it is definitely Greenup, Gallatin, Grayson, Graves, or Garrard.
September 11, 200917 yr Target is more upscale than Wal-Mart and that will continue to be it's niche. Target isn't going anywhere simply on the fact that there will always be a rather large group of people who want a little better than the bottom if for nothing else than prestige.
