Keep an eye on Robert Griffin from Baylor. Guy is electric.

Very impressed with Alabama right now. Their defense is absolutely amazing. They dominated that whole game last night and the only reason VT was still in it was because of a KR TD and some miscues from Bama's offense. If they can develop some more consistent QB play, watchout...

I don't see how anyone is impressed with Pryor, the Ohio State receivers were much better than the Navy secondary and it showed. Pryor made some dumb throws IMO. Yes, his athleticism is amazing, but he's got a long way to go.

I was most impressed with Penn State-they were able to find what looks to be a more than adequate replacement for Williams in Derrick Moye, Clark looks like a better passer and Royster looks to have slimmed down a lot from last season. Oklahoma's defense-I have really been impressed with OU's D since the National Title game last season, it was usually much maligned by the media, but Venables has a very athletic and speedy group.Virginia Tech-I thought they were frauds and were just going to get dominated by Bama but they held their own and I think they will run the table in the ACC and possibly be in the National Title picture. Washington-played much better than I expected last night with a new coach and a team that was coming off an 0-12 season. Sarkisian looks to be in complete control of that team and I look for them to win 7-8 games this year.

The next two teams impressed me, but given who they were playing I'm going to reserve judgment until next week when they square off: Michigan and Notre Dame. While Clausen and Floyd torched Nevada yesterday, it was only Nevada and their pass D is terrible. Michigan looked like a completely different team yesterday, they looked like they were having fun and I think they may win 8-9 games and will beat either Penn State, Ohio State or possibly both. I would not be surprised if Michigan is playing in the Rose Bowl.

The players I was most impressed with from this opening weeked:

Kellen Moore-looked great against Oregon Thursday night, one of the bright spots in an otherwise crappy game.

Randall Cobb-this kid looks like a new player this year, he showed flashes of his potential last season, but I think eventually this kid will be one of the best receivers in the SEC and possibly the Country.

USC Running Backs-can anyone stop these guys? McKnight looked better than he ever has, Tyler looked tough, Johnson impressed, Havili impressed, Bradford impressed. They're the second best team in the country IMO, and I watched all five top five teams play yesterday.

Max Hall-I know the victory was marred by Bradford going down, but it was still a heck of a drive to take the Cougars all the way down the field and score with 2:30 left.

Jahvid Best-145 yards on 10 carries and 2 touchdowns, great numbers in the thrashing of Maryland.

Oh yeah, and I've been saying it about Robert Griffin for a long time.

Let's get this up to the top. I'd like to see what BGP nation has to say.

Jimmy Claussen from Notre Dame and Navy's QB.

I don't really see how TN was impressive. They played a very weak opponent.

As someone already said it was just against Nevada but Michael Floyd is averaging 48 yards per catch. That pretty impressive.

But as far as Notre Dame goes, I was most impressed with the defense. A lot of the talking heads seemed to feel that the pistol offense would give them trouble and that while Notre Dame would win it would be a high scoring game. I certainly did not expect a shut out. However, next week will be a better litmus test of how far the defense may have improved.

If the defense steps up Notre Dame has the ability to be very good this year. The other thing that stood out is that Charlie Weis finally has some depth. Its popular to jump on Weis for the problems that he has had the last two seasons, but a big part of that really was due to the lack of proper recruiting by Willingham, especially on the OL and DL.

Yes they did, but I was just impressed by the way they came out and handled business. I mean they won a game they were supposed to early in the year, yet last season they were losing to a Wyoming team who won 4 games, and went 1-7 in the Mountain West. So yes, I was impressed.

Pryor made a few mistakes, but he is also a sophomore starting in his first ever season opening game. He is going to improve tremendously. He has a solid arm and he makes big plays with his feet. He isn't a Tebow or Bradford, but he is going to mold into a Vince Young type player, the college Vince Young hopefully.

As for your statement on Cobb, I don't believe he could be a top WR in the country, but in the SEC he could be. He has a lot of potential and upside, but I don't see him being a guy who can get you 1,200-1,400 yards, and 12-15 TD's like the best wide outs do.

I was impressed by how far Washington has come; the improvement of Cal; Ingram at Alabama; Oklahoma State's defense; USC's offensive line, particularly Byers; USC LB Chris Galippo; Navy's head coach; and Greg Paulus.

All in all, a very satisfying opening weekend of college football.

Not to be a homer but Nebraska jr. RB Roy Helu is going to shine this year. He had a nice season last year when he stepped in for Marlon Lucky and this off season he added muscle without losing a step and it shows. He had 16 car. for 152yds and 3 tds against FAU on saturday.

Homer.:D

Players: Mark Ingram - Alabama, frosh running back - 25 carries, 150yds., 1 td vs. Va. Techs very tough defense. Also, Alabama's "O" line.

The Fresheman qb at USC

Randll Cobb - U.K.

T. Lindley - U.K.

Teams - Navy, OK. State, Alabama.

I absolutely agree! Washington looked really good against a really good LSU team. I was surprised by the game stats-

Team Stat Comparison

LSU Wash

1st Downs 17 25

3rd down efficiency 5-10 11-19

4th down efficiency 0-0 1-1

Total Yards 321 478

Passing 172 321

Comp-Att 11-19 25-45

Yards per pass 9.1 7.1

Rushing 149 157

Rushing Attempts 29 38

Yards per rush 5.1 4.1

Penalties 3-35 11-83

Turnovers 1 2

Fumbles lost 1 1

Interceptions thrown 0 1

Possession 23:08 36:52

It looks like penalties really hurt Washington

We'll have to see if Pryor can ever single handedly beat a top 5 team like Young did on more than 1 occasion.
