The birds rotate 3 backs. They are #29 Jac Collinsworth, #25 Colin Seidl and #23 Ben Streeter. Schweitzer the starting right tackle didn't get to play last night because of a concussion he sustained earlier in the week.

Colin "Frog" Seidl does a very nice job making up for his size. He is a little undersized but man does this kid bring it on every play. And he can Fly.....:thumb:

Lets have a rematch in two or three years for these boys and see how it works out then as well :thumb:

I would encourage a regular series between St. X and Highlands.

Yes it did and it was a very nice crowd to boot..

I was told last night they estimated the crowd at 1,500. Nice crowd for a freshman game.

Very nice crowd....I made my contribution and I'm sure there were plenty that didn't. It was only $3.00 go get in.....I have to give out a big old doesn't that stink. The Boosters decided to put stuff out last night and very limited to what they had. Hopefully they right the ship before the Boone game.

Is it true that the Highlands JV team defeated the Ryle JV team 37-21 on Saturday?

The Birds sophomore QB threw 4 TD passes. Wide receiver Gall had 4 TD catches.

Back to the Freshman game, the young QB did a awesome job. First time seeing this kid play and wow, can he play. If he keeps developing, maybe HHS can get back on the two year QB rotation.

Also, Frog and the boys on defense really did an outstanding job. The interior part of this game was a barnburner. Both teams did outstanding jobs. #50 for X. Man, all over the place. Other than some miscues on specials, outstanding job by both teams.

I have to admit I picked a terrible night to have family over for a combined birthday party, I knew I was going to miss a good one. Does anybody have a frosh HHS schedule; so I can plan better next time. It looks like this is going to be a fun bunch to watch.
St. X got opening kickoff and drove on 10 plays for the first score. Highlands returned kickoff for their first. St. X went on 4th and 6 from their own 35 and were stopped. Tiger defense appeared to hold the birds but were called for pass interference. Highlands finished the drive to go up 12-6. St. X changed qbs and had a run of long passes for a couple scores aided by highlands turnovers and a nice hurry up passing game. It appeared to be on the verge of getting out of hand but the birds did a great job in second half. Then an hour delay for a fire alarm. No, that is not a joke. Highlands scores on a long drive early in fourth quarter and tigers can't run much clock. Final drive was a classic. Birds march, face third and long at least 4 times. Execute 35 yard half back pass and punch it in. They go for two and tigers smother the counter trap. Gutsy call by coaches but smart decision, IMO. A shame either team had to lose. Too many great plays and players to mention for both sides but the other posts and refs are correct...these two teams could matchup with many varsity squads. And win. The entire highlands experience was a class act. 5A beware for the next four years. That frosh team won't play a close game the rest of their season, IMO.

I don't believe that it was a counter, I'm pretty sure that the birds were trying to run a reverse but it was a broken play and Ben Streeter just had to try to punch it in himself and of course did not make it.

Great game by both teams, future looks bright for both of these young teams. I'm glad the Bird's went for the win at the end.

Agreed with 100%. Great play by both teams, considering they are freshmen. It didn't feel like a freshmen game at all though. Lot of excitement in the air. Good job boys on both teams. :thumb:

It will be a tough decision at quarterback next year between McCoy and Towles. Two strong armed quarterbacks with good size and neither will be a senior.

You know what, you're right. It didn't feel like a freshman game. Usually a lot of sloppy play and maybe a couple hundred people. Last night was a lot of fun to watch that game. Great atmosphere on a awesome night. HHS needs to schedule more of these games especially with the looks of the Junior football league with what is coming through there right now.

Dale needs to schedule the Varsity series now along with others down the road. Lets get it done.

Haven't seen this Towels kid play but I have seen McCoy over the years and let me tell you this, the young QB did an outstanding job last night. I would think he only gets better along with the rest of the Freshman. Now lets get ready for Boone and get that first win!
