NKY Middle School Basketball League

Featured Replies

Don't know if anyone will see this in time to help me out, but here it goes. Simons Middle School (Fleming Co.) plays in the Erlanger Middle School Classic today. The schedule I have has Fleming 8th playing at Scheben? The other sites listed are Tichenor and Lloyd which I have heard of. Where is Scheben? We play at 3:00 against St. Pius and at 6 against Conner. Any help on the location would be appreciated.

Scheben Gym is located in between Tichenor Middle and Lloyd High School. They are all on the same campus.

Thanks! Getting ready to head up the AA in a few.

Beau is playing frosh ball but I have no clue whether or not he will be the starting PG or not. The first frosh game is about a month away so still a lot of practice and competition. My guess is he wont suit up for the 7th or 8th grade teams.

Ok, as of today it looks like Beau Hoge will be back playing 7th grade. He was a no show for the 8am Frosh practice and rumor has it he is back with his own grade.

Watched some pretty good basketball today at the Erlanger Middle School Classic (8th grade). I was impressed with the Conner 8th grade team, they are a scrappy bunch that plays hard.

Please see the 8th grade teams below for the Crusader Classic that begins on 11/6 and ends on 11/22.

Conner

IHM

St. Joe-Cold Spring

St. Pius

St. Mary

St. Joe-Crescent Springs

St. Thomas

St. Henry

St. Paul

St. Cecilia

St. Therese

Any scores yet? Who looks good early?

I got to take in a few games in the back gym (6th grade). Conner, Turkeyfoot and Campbell County all looked good. I saw Ockerman warming up but did not see them play (they are very big).

I was there to watch Fleming Co. 8th but got the chance to watch most of five 8th grade games.

Mason Co. defeated RA Jones (big)

Fleming Co. defeated St. Pius (around 20)

Ockerman defeated G. Angels (overtime)

Mason Co. defeated Campbell Co. (close for awhile, Mason pulled away late)

Fleming Co. defeated Conner (good game, around 5 pts)

Looks like you guys have a nice competitive league up there.

Sounds like Fleming Co has a nice 8th grade team. Tell us more about this group?

I remember Conner being loaded with size last year? Who stands out for them?

Fleming County has a gaurd nobody could stop at all. Got to the rim any time he wanted.

Fleming Co. is a small school that just happened to have several good athletes born around the same time. Overall they are small but all positions play a little bigger than actual height. Everyone can handle the ball and shoot fairly well. They have no holdbacks but have played together in some form (travel ball / AAU) since 2nd grade. I think they have one of the best guards in the state in Darion Burns, but on any given night someone else is capable of stepping up.

I don't know any names, but the big man down low (#14) was impressive. Overall they did have good size, and like I said earlier played very hard and seemed well coached.

Is coach Robinson still the 8th grade coach? I know Walton plays Conner on Saturday at Walton - sould be a good game.

Curious to see who plays for Walton's 8th grade this year. Lot's of talent played freshman last year.

I went up to the middle school at the Highlands tip off and watched Conner play last night. Robinson is the coach and # 14 is Barker. They beat St. Mary's of Alexandria by about 8. Game was a 2 point game at half. The game prior was Guardian Angel of the East side blowing out St. Thomas to earn a match up against Conner on Thursday night. The Barker boy should dominate the smaller but scrappy Angels.
