ColonelCrazy Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Per ESPN... Not a big deal when he was only going to play a few series, but still... Hope the ankle gets to 100% before the season opener...
Big Slick Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 He needs the work, but probably a good decision.
HammerTime Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Replace him... He is getting old. I don't see a smiley so I really hope you are kidding.
bugatti Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Sure wish they could sign their draft pick!I think it was a pretty safe bet from the start that Andre Smith would be one of, if not the last draft pick signed by any team. Could see it coming a mile a way. Maybe he has grown out of it, but his lack of maturity through this whole process would make me nervous if I were a Bengal fan.

It's hard to be nervous when you always expect the worst. :thumb:

You do know the Bengals are trying to pay him less than the pick after him got right? His agent sent the Bengals an offer last week asking for only $2M more than the guy after them and the Bengals said no thanks. Katie Blackburn on national television said she doesn't understand why he won't take their offer b/c it's a lot of money. Maybe it's b/c if you get picked ahead of a guy you should get more than him. This agent would lose credibility in the future if they settled for less. Who has a history of being tight wads who won't spend money on draft picks?

I don't think Crabtree has signed either.
HammerTime Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Honestly I don't think it will be that huge of a deal that Smith had missed some time. I just hope they can get him at least 1 or 2 weeks before the season starts. I heard they were pretty close on numbers.

spindoc Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 By week 4 would be fine by me... :sssh: Funny that you say that, but the first 2 weeks are very winnable for the Bengals with a healthy Palmer. I'd hate for him to miss week 3 regardless of the outcome.:thumb:
HammerTime Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 How Carson feels... Palmer's current injury is much less serious and it's looking like he'll be ready for the traditional dress rehearsal in 10 days in the third preseason game and Paul Brown Stadium Aug. 27 opener against the Rams. Palmer would only say its "day-to-day," and "if I can play, I'll play." "It's not serious because I don't have to run around a lot," Palmer said. "It would be more serious if I had to play receiver or corner or something like that." As for his rehab, he offered "strengthening, icing, medicine, witchcraft. Whatever it takes." In that '06 season, Palmer showed no signs of rustiness despite doing less in the spring and first part of training camp than he's done this year. In '06, the Bengals came out 3-0 and beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh. “I’ll be healthy obviously by then but I want to get ready as quickly as I can,” Palmer said. “It’s just hard to be in training camp but not practice. It’s the best part of the day. The meetings are the worst, practices are the best."

You also know the the player you are referencing is Heyward-Bay in Oakland... a team with a history of being loose spenders and overpayers for high draft picks. I am assuming the debate is more about the guaranteed money. The first tackle in the draft is getting 33 million in guarantees (10 mil a year). Heyward-Bey is getting 23.5 and is averaging 7.65 million a year. Smith is reportedly looking for 5 years, 40 million. 8 million a year. All these numbers come from wikipedia. Point remains I would be skeptical of Smith until he proves otherwise whether he had signed by now or not.
