I would agree with Colonel Nation, it is a tough one out of the gate, but there are really no breaks on the schedule at all....WOW....

I think Whitley will take this one by 1 to 2 tds.

LC will load up and stop the run, WC lack of passing game will be the difference. It will however be a good game.

Lexington Catholic 35-24.

Lexingto Catholic 42 Whitley County 14

They WILL get out of the gate quick...LC has some real experience and talent at the skill spots...defense will be powerful, but they better be with the schedule ahead. The ace is they still have one of the best coachs in the state and he loves defense...they'll be alright.

How will the knights handle the spread offense, Whitley looked good in there inner squad scrimmage. slinging it all over the feild. I was shocked, I thought whitley ran the ball.???????

ps... I hope to see that old guy down on campus this week with his binoculars. He looked kinda lost...

Lexington Catholic 28 Whitley Co. 14

Good luck to the school to the South. I will be tuning in friday night. A win at Lex Cath would be the signature win for Coach Black, and would set the tone for what could be a special year.

I must warn the Colonel faithful: I watched the Redhounds physically manhandle Lex Cath back in 02, only to get beat in 3 big plays. You can't sleep against the Knights. They can score from anywhere on the field.

The Colonels speed is underrated. Nobody stopped the Colonels from moving the ball last year. If they don't turn it over it will be 27-24 for Whitley.

Whitley will have to throw it to win and I have not seen nothing out of them to think they can. It will be a good contest by LC will pull out the win.

If we're going to talk about last year, then the only two teams on their schedule comparable to Lexington Catholic was Bell County and Highlands. Whitley lost to Bell 38-8, and to Highlands 42-16.

I know that was last year. And I know Whitley County should have a nice team. But Lexington Catholic is very strong. Whitley County can't prepare for the type of speed they'll face; that's not a knock, that's the truth. Could Whitley pull an upset? I guess. But I think this one should play out very similar to those Bell and Highlands games from last year.

By Catholic standards, they were a little down last year. If they are back to normal this year it will be a 10+ point win for LexCath. If they have not improved very much it will be a nice game with Whitley pulling it out.
