If the refs stay out of it, Alcoa will win. You just think you have seen speed until you see Alcoa. Different game against this type of competition. Alcoa is not McCreary Central. They will have several D1 athletes. I am not sure about Alcoa's line. If Bell is overwhelmingly better up front they could pull it off. If the lines are equal then Alcoa will win big.

they also face Maryville the week after, adn may not want to show too much.

 

Maryville and Alcoa are only about 5 miles apart. They know what each other has. During the playoffs the coaches from either school will help out the others. There's no point in Alcoa trying to "hide" anything.

Plus the Alcoa center I saw at U.T. football camp was a D1 level prospect also. The News-Sentinel also says this, "Alcoa has three senior starting offensive linemen, and its backfield is as deep as any program's in the state."

 

I know nothing about Bell County. I've kept up with Alcoa over the years because my sister lives 2 blocks from the school. Bell County is considered a key game for Alcoa, as it will be for Bell County. Alcoa is a very tough team for a state that is as football crazy as Kentucky is basketball crazy. I think it's close early and then Alcoa wins by 10-14 points. Depends on whether Bell can capitalize on Alcoa's penalties. And there will be penalties.

I know some have been downplaying the loss of Carton but I've been hearing about him being the next great Bell running back for years now. It has to hurt.

I saw a few Alcoa players at the U.T. football camp. They're center is exceptional. The U.T. coaches seemed very interested in him. They are very tough physically. I watched them play a few years ago in the state semi-final. They beat you up physically. I may be wrong but I don't think so, but Alcoa's only losses over the past 5 seasons has been to neighboring rival Maryville which has won the TN 4A championship 4 of the last 5 years having lost in the finals last year.

 

Bell County will have their work cut out for them.

 

They lost 2 4 or 5 years ago to Maryville(4A champs) and Knox Fulton(3a champs). They went on to win 2A.

I didn't realize their line was that stacked. Now I don't think the game will even be close. Alcoa has a great coach on top of all the other things mentioned. Highlands of '04 wasn't supposed to be close, heck, we were'nt supposed to make it past the 50 on them. Bell wasn't supposed to be able to pass the ball against Boyle, but we did (no disrespect intended). Don't count Bell County out of any game, especially on log mountain. You may not realize it, but this Bell team is also stacked. Great size on both lines, speed and athleticism at the skill positions. You can't say Alcoa is in another league until they make the drive to KY and prove it.

Most people associated with the Bell County program say this is by far the best team to ever come on the hill, I will have to agree with them even though 07 Lex. Cath. and 04 Highlands were pretty darn good teams. This alcoa team has depth, speed and talent. Bell has speed and talent and is somewhat lacking on depth. But one thing I can tell you, the Bell kids are determined, confident but not cockey, they are going win this game. Most of these kids have only lost 5 or 6 football games since they have been playing football in grade school, and they just don't except loosing nor do they ever hit the field that they don't think they are going to win the game. Regardless of the outcome I guarantee you are going to see a slobber knocker, head banging, all out brawl Friday night on Log Mtn. As Hugh Delk used to say, you can check in the Hilton on Log Mtn. you just can't check out!!!!!! Go Cats!

Hurts a lot , On defense more so than offense JMO , He was a headhunter. If he goes to Pineville as rumored he would be unstoppable for the Mountain Lions.
