Palin and her "Death Panel"

Featured Replies

Do you believe that is a potential problem with the health care plan?

If you do, you're as out there as she is ...

Let's see............Medicare is broke (or will be) - Federally ran

Medicaid is a burden and broke - Federally ran

Social Security is broke

I do not want elected officials that are heavily influenced by PAC's deciding my health care options. I am self sufficient and can take care of my own things. I do not nor do I want the government deciding and telling me what I can or cannot do when it comes to my health.

I am a doctor and I see the effects of government controlled health care everyday with my elderly patients. Do I want this for the entire country, NO. If you think that universal healthcare controlled by the government is some type of utopia, my friend, the delusion is yours. Ask Canadians and Brits if they are happy with their systems. I live outside what Brian Williams reports at 6:30 every night and I suggest you do the same. I refuse to drink the cool aid, it's bad for my health.

That's how we got in this mess in the first place. Insurance companies through PACs are telling us who and how much today.

I do not nor do I want the government deciding and telling me what I can or cannot do when it comes to my health.

Insurance companies tell us today which treatments we can have and which ones we cannot. So who exactly is determining what you can and cannot do with your health today?

She likes to mention her family a lot, but gets upset when someone else does.

Apples and oranges, can't compare.

This is what she was referring to:

FACT CHECK: No 'death panel' in health care bill

WASHINGTON – Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin says the health care overhaul bill would set up a "death panel." Federal bureaucrats would play God, ruling on whether ailing seniors are worth enough to society to deserve life-sustaining medical care. Palin and other critics are wrong.

Nothing in the legislation would carry out such a bleak vision. The provision that has caused the uproar would instead authorize Medicare to pay doctors for counseling patients about end-of-life care, if the patient wishes.

You can read the rest of the article for the Q and A portion. I found it educational.

So, making a joke about your teenage daughter should make it somehow easier to swallow while commenting on what you believe is a potential problem with the health care plan is off-limits?

:thumb: That's what I am gathering from the posts on here. I am waiting for the 'she is a racist' comments because she disagrees with Obama's plan.

I don't know enough about his plan to comment.

Gee, another tired kool-aid comment ...

I didn't anything that resembles support for Obama's plan ... I simply want to know if lbbc agrees with Palin's views on the "death panels."

Her "death panel" comments are enough to dismiss her views outright.
Bristol is an adult. And Chelsea Clinton got it just as bad as Bristol...

When you run on a platform of moral values you should expect jokes of that ilk when your 17 year old (at the time) daughter gets knocked up (out of wedlock to boot).

P. S. Any adult child is never off limits.

So, is the 17 year old an adult child or not? You seem to contradict yourself at the same time when you list her minor age but call her an adult child.

If it is comments about her now, that would be different. But Brad Garrett's and David Letterman's comments were about her as a teenager.

Don't know enough about it to make an educated comment and don't think I have on this subject in here.

I agree that Chelsea Clinton got it bad. That doesn't make it right. A 17 year old is not an adult, legally or otherwise. I believe that children should be off limits.

And BTW, at least one comedian was not joking about her 17 year old daughter, but her 14 year old daughter.

If someone made jokes about Obama's underage daughters, would that be okay? I would certainly hope not.

Then why is Biden the VP. If stupid comments should have us totally dismiss someone and their views, he should have been out of office a long time ago.

Here are some other bright comments from other elected/appointed officials I found interestingly funny.

' Outside of the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the country, '

--Mayor Marion Barry, Washington , DC .

' It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it. '

--Al Gore, Vice President

' I love California . I practically grew up in Phoenix . '

-- Dan Quayle

' If somebody has a bad heart, they can plug this jack in at night as they go to bed and it will monitor their heart throughout the night. And the next morning, when they wake up dead, there'll be a record. '

--Mark S. Fowler, FCC Chairman

I didn't contradict myself at all. She is an adult now, she isn't off limits by any means. She was an adult at the time the comments were made, therefore fair game.

I think Mrs. Palin needs to look into a relatively new procedure called a stickendectomy.

Let me ask you it this way, would you have a problem with people on NATIONAL TV making fun of the bad choices your 17-year old daughter made? Would that rankle you and you or would you simply laugh about it and say no big deal, she is an adult now.

Well, let's see, she mentions that her Down Syndrome baby's life is not considered worth it by Obama's health care plan and Brad Garrett on Joan Rivers roast jokes about how many times Bristol Palin's dress came up on Prom Night.

Anyone see a difference in the context of mentioning her family???

Would you be upset if someone joked that way about your teenage daughter??

She put them in the spotlight, she should have known that people were going to talk about them. Americans aren't always nice people and she should have expected that.

And no, if I was in her position, I wouldn't have gotten mad. It was a joke. But that is for another thread.

Due to poor research. The joke was aimed at her 18 year old daughter. Seriously guys, Bristol turns 19 in October...she has been 18 for a while.

I find Louis C. K. hilarious...
