Palin and her "Death Panel"

One more prime example of why this lady should not be anywhere near a public office.

The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

The above is from her Facebook page. Its completely indefensible and completely without merit (even if it is her opinion, UKMF) and shows that she is no better than the Hannitys of the world who try to lead by fear.

Sadly, there are people in this world who believe that this will come to fruition should there be reform.

Secondly, using her fellow whack job Michelle Bachman as supporting evidence is just beautiful.

Not only was that entirely fabricated, she's again exploited her family. She's also the only, or, rather, first person to make such an absurd claim. I can only imagine the level of perversion of the mind that allowed the conjuring of that conclusion.

On the other hand, she's apparently walked it back. Though, I haven't seen the quote.

Isn't there already a "death panel" in place and they're called "private insurance companies?"

I read a case where a guy had to have a discussion with the hospital and was told that his mother's insurance coverage only covered 30 days in ICU. Did he want to pay tens of thousands of dollars for an extra week or should she be released "HTD" - Home to Die?

It doesn't matter whether its ignorance on Palin's part or if its politics on her part. It simply shows that she needs to just take her money to go on Fox and speak to the radical portion of the party that caused the party to go down in flames.

If not that, there are at least judgments concerning a person's "level of productivity in society" that determine whether they are worthy of healthcare or not. Perhaps if Palin thought it through she would have noticed she was very nearly making an argument for universal coverage.

Unsurprisingly, Palin and Investors Business Daily have a lot in common:

People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn’t have a chance in the U.K., where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless.

IBD

Steven Hawking, of course, is British.

I think there is a reference to the situation in Oregon. I think they have state run health care with the public option.

64 year old lady had lung cancer and the state refused to pay for the medicine that would help her particularly with her longevity and the state refused to pay for the meds...but did pay for assisted suicide...it was $4k for the medicine and $50 to put her out of her misery. The state went for the $50 option.

However, Palin is a goof.

She likes to mention her family a lot, but gets upset when someone else does.

Well, let's see, she mentions that her Down Syndrome baby's life is not considered worth it by Obama's health care plan and Brad Garrett on Joan Rivers roast jokes about how many times Bristol Palin's dress came up on Prom Night.

Anyone see a difference in the context of mentioning her family???

Would you be upset if someone joked that way about your teenage daughter??

I'm not defending what Brad Garrett said, but he was joking.

Palin, on the other hand, was not.

So, making a joke about your teenage daughter should make it somehow easier to swallow while commenting on what you believe is a potential problem with the health care plan is off-limits?

Do you believe that is a potential problem with the health care plan?

If you do, you're as out there as she is ...

Bristol is an adult. And Chelsea Clinton got it just as bad as Bristol...

When you run on a platform of moral values you should expect jokes of that ilk when your 17 year old (at the time) daughter gets knocked up (out of wedlock to boot).

P. S. Any adult child is never off limits.

I agree and we are talking about a Comedy Central roast...not exactly a hot bed for appropriate conversation.
