August 11, 200917 yr Glad I could provide you with some humor but it is accurate. I have long been a defender of Hillary and Chelsea for the dispecable way they were treated by Bill Clinton. I have stated on here that I have respect for Hilary for trying to hold her family together while having a scum for a husband. I have no respect for Bill Clinton because the multiple times he has treated his family as he did. I would NEVER vote for Hillary Clinton and think she would be a horrible choice for President with her stance on abortion. While it might be a problem for you, I have no problem defending someone when they need to be defended despite never thinking about voting for them. I'm ignoring the top part for my own personal reasons. This is getting to be too much. I forgot, I'm the one who is very political and close-minded.
August 11, 200917 yr Don't know enough about it to make an educated comment and don't think I have on this subject in here.Actually, you have: Well, let's see, she mentions that her Down Syndrome baby's life is not considered worth it by Obama's health care plan ...You seemed to quote Palin's views as if they were legitimate ...
August 11, 200917 yr I'm ignoring the top part for my own personal reasons. This is getting to be too much. I forgot, I'm the one who is very political and close-minded. The first step is recognizing our mistakes. Glad to see you have done that.:thumb:
August 11, 200917 yr Actually, you have: You seemed to quote Palin's views as if they were legitimate ... I was not addressing her death panel comments but rather the point that was being made, and I quoted it, that somehow bringing her family up (Down's Syndrome child and the death panel) was equal to comedians making fun of her teenage children.
August 11, 200917 yr I'm just providing commentary that apparently I didn't spell out clearly enough. In my opinion the Obama children and Bristol Palin don't deserve to be treated the same...for MANY different reasons. Valid point. I think no minor child should be made fun of. Whether it was the homely comments about Chelsey to the Palin children and the claims that the Down's Syndrome child was actually Bristol's to the Obama's. They should be off limits. Kids have a hard enough time growing up to add in the over-the-top, humorless views of an Olberman, Hannity, Bill Mayer, etc, etc.
August 11, 200917 yr Palin's comments on the "death panels" were, and I'm being very literal, completely made up. She created a fantasy. At least comedians are supposed to be funny. And I find no humor in taking the mistakes of a teeanger and splashing them all over the national media to make political points. If the Dems were honest, they are less appalled by the actions but rather using it for pure political purposes. And that is wrong to use a candidate's child for political purposes.
August 11, 200917 yr And that is wrong to use a candidate's child for political purposes. Including the candidate herself?
August 11, 200917 yr Including the candidate herself? Let me rephrase as you have made a good observation. There are times that your family situation does bleed over into things that will come up in the position and there would be no way around it. Bristol's pregnancy HAD to be reported. No way around that. The birth of the child HAD to be reported. I understand that. The comments from comedians about Chelsey's looks was uncalled for. THe jokes about Bristol and Prom Night, uncalled for. At the same time, there are times, making health calls on children with birth defects, there is almost no way that her own child will not come up. Obama making calls about education, there is obviously things he can say about his daughters and the need for their education. Times yes. If it is a steady characteristic of it, then I would begin to have a problem with it. Am I making any sense Habib. Trying to do 3 things at once here and trying to get this in before I have to get out the door for a golf match.
August 11, 200917 yr Gee, another tired kool-aid comment ... I didn't anything that resembles support for Obama's plan ... I simply want to know if lbbc agrees with Palin's views on the "death panels." That is fine. Just remember, all government controlled health plans will be Obama's plan.

No matter how you want to look at it, either way they will be using their children for their politcal gain in those situations by attempting to add that to their "political resume". It sure seems like having one's cake and eating it too in this instance. :sssh:
August 11, 200917 yr That's how we got in this mess in the first place. Insurance companies through PACs are telling us who and how much today. Insurance companies tell us today which treatments we can have and which ones we cannot. So who exactly is determining what you can and cannot do with your health today? Clyde, I will agree that PAC's from insurance companies heavy hand the political landscape. I also agree that Insurance companies have different plans and you have to abide by the plan you select or that your employer picks. Where I disagree is having such a big and broadscoping hand of the government handling our choices and what is covered. I can tell you, imo, where insurance went wrong and it goes back to a governmental decision. When insurance went from non-profit to stock driven companies. The love of money and the demands of stockholders have been the demise of our current system. The demand for the bottom line has led to a flat line. (sorry, had to get a bad medical joke in there)
August 11, 200917 yr So you can use your child if it helps you then? No matter how you want to look at it, either way they will be using their children for their politcal gain in those situations by attempting to add that to their "political resume". It sure seems like having one's cake and eating it too in this instance. :sssh: Not what I said. What I said is that there are times that no way around it, they are going to come up. If she was at a health care conference about what Obama's plans for Down Syndrom children, it would come up. Her using her child in this facet on Facebook was inappropriate in my opinion.
August 11, 200917 yr I was not addressing her death panel comments but rather the point that was being made, and I quoted it, that somehow bringing her family up (Down's Syndrome child and the death panel) was equal to comedians making fun of her teenage children. The two points aren't comparable. One is a comedian/actor making a joke. The other is an allegedly serious political figure making a totally asinine and incorrect statement.
August 11, 200917 yr Let's see............Medicare is broke (or will be) - Federally ran Medicaid is a burden and broke - Federally ran Social Security is broke I do not want elected officials that are heavily influenced by PAC's deciding my health care options. I am self sufficient and can take care of my own things. I do not nor do I want the government deciding and telling me what I can or cannot do when it comes to my health. I am a doctor and I see the effects of government controlled health care everyday with my elderly patients. Do I want this for the entire country, NO. If you think that universal healthcare controlled by the government is some type of utopia, my friend, the delusion is yours. Ask Canadians and Brits if they are happy with their systems. I live outside what Brian Williams reports at 6:30 every night and I suggest you do the same. I refuse to drink the cool aid, it's bad for my health. The Obama plan is nothing but government trying to control every aspect of our lives. I agree with you sideline, universal healthcare is no utopia. We are in for some big time health care issues if this goes through. I too, refuse to drink the kool-aid.:thumb:
