NYyankees13 Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Reports say that he was throwing a 90% simulated game today for warm-ups and had to stop in the middle. Now the question is will he have surgery or something else. Thoughts?

gamer31 Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Another Dick poole fiasco. Forget the trades get rid of all the stupid coaches and start from there. I couldn't agree more! I would clean house after this season with the coaching staff!!
PutMeInCoach Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Another Dick poole fiasco. Forget the trades get rid of all the stupid coaches and start from there. How is this the coaches fault? He was on a normal schedule and had another set back. It happens all the time.
ColonelCrazy Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Sounds like Edinson could be done for the year. He's meeting with Dr. Kremcheck tomorrow to discuss a possible surgery.

I hate the coaches, but I agree w/ you here. However I absoultely can't stand the WBC. I have no idea if it had anything to do w/ this injury, but these pitchers are far too important to their teams and owners to be pitching under that much stress that early in the year.
NashMVP Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 How is this the coaches fault? He was on a normal schedule and had another set back. It happens all the time. Dick Poole and Dusty ruined arms in Chicago. Wood and Pryor ring a bell. Check out the first inning era of the reds pitching staff. Worst in the majors. Obviously someone is not making sure the pitchers are ready in the bullpen before they go to the mound. While we are at it get rid of the hitting coach Brook Jacoby. Shoot just clean house and start over with the coaching staff.

Shoot just clean house and start over with the coaching staff. Dusty had little to no impact on Mark Prior being injured. If you recall he was a really good pitcher until he collided with, then 2nd baseman, Marcus Giles of the Atlanta Braves. Messed both players up pretty bad and Prior nor Giles was the same sense.
The Scribe Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 I think Dick Pole should get more blame than Dusty After taking over as pitching coach, the ERAs dropped initially dropped in stops in Chicago, San Francisco, and Cleveland before rising before his exit. Among the starters who were considered healthy before landing on the DL while Pole was the pitching coach? Mike Harkey, Shawn Boskie, and Danny Jackson when he was with the Cubs. None were ever the same William Van Landingham, Bill Swift, and Osvaldo Fernandez with the Giants Charles Nagy and Steve Woodard in one season with the Indians Tony Armas in one season with the Expos In two seasons with the Reds, Eric Milton imploded with an arm injury. Was a decent rotation option prior to his arrival. Eddie Guardado was shut down two years ago with the Reds. He's somehow healthy with the Rangers. Volquez. Harang is iffy. Look what Coffey has done in Milwaukee compared to Cincy. Is Dick Pole to blame for all of these? Probably not. But that's a decent list of starting pitchers who broke down under the tutiledge of Pole. We're not talking about short stints on the DL. We're talking career-ending injuries or pitchers who were never the same once they pitched under Pole. The jury is still out on the Reds pitchers. A lot of people (myself included) have blasted Dusty and his handling of the pitchers, but Pole's hands are dirty also. He's the one who designs the off-day throwing routines, bullpen sessions, etc. Solid pitchers such as Danny Jackson, Bill Swift, Charles Nagy, Tony Armas, and Eric Milton had immediate injuries after Pole took over. Coincidence? Conspiracy? Much ado about nothing?
letabrotherspeak Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Hal McCoy says to not be surprised if Tommy John is in Volquez's future.
SSC Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Has anyone done any kind of study on how the WBC pitchers are holding up? There was something in the USA today before this years. It's just an awful idea from an awful commissioner.
westsider Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 There was something in the USA today before this years. It's just an awful idea from an awful commissioner.I like the concept of the WBC ... the problem is here is no good time of the year to do it. If I was a major league GM, I wouldn't want my team's pitchers participating in it.
