Jack of all Trades Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 My wife was just at a Shell station where she paid $ 2.47 or so for a gallon of gas and while she was filling up, the attendant came out and up'd the price into the $ 2.60's and said that it would be going up all weekend. What in the world is going on now that justifies this increase? I still say that the oil companies and the banks are the most crooked entities in this country and are a huge part of why we are in the tough economic times that we are.
TrueBlueWildcat Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Someone also said gas was going to be $4.00 a gallon during most of July and that has yet to happen.
bigblueinsanity Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Someone also said gas was going to be $4.00 a gallon during most of July and that has yet to happen. Knock on wood.
ACE Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 True for most areas, however "competition"(or lack thereof) can "allow" the price to be driven up unreasonably in some areas.
Milfordflash Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Supply and demand... That's the farthest thing from determining the price of gas. Speculators in the market are the driving force behind gas prices now. Stock goes up so does oil prices, market goes down, oil does also. They shouldn't be allowed to be manipulating prices like they do.:taz:
John Anthony Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Supply and demand... Supply is up, up, up and demand is down, down, down. Bottom line OPEC wants at least 60-70 bucks a barrel and they can do that. Oil was in the 60's late last week now its back around 68 dollars that is why gas has gone back up. Some OPEC countries want 100 dollars a barell but the Saudi's have said 70-75, then again just a few years ago they said 40 was OK. They won't let it push us into a recession again though.
sweet16 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 It was 2.36 on Tuesday than 2.24 on Wednesday and now on Friday it was 2.38 CRAZY
ladiesbballcoach Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I do find it ironically funny that for the past 8 years it was Bush's and the Republicans fault when gas prices went up. Now that the Dems are in power in the WH and Congress, it is the speculators fault when gas prices go up. That's funny right there and I don't care who you are!!
All In Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Wasn't gas in the $1.50 range for a brief time last fall? Does anyone remember the month that was in?, seems like October
Jim Schue Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 Wasn't gas in the $1.50 range for a brief time last fall? Does anyone remember the month that was in?, seems like October In December on the way back from Iowa we paid under $1.40.
All In Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 In December on the way back from Iowa we paid under $1.40. Talked to a couple that just got back from out West, and gas was $2.14 in Joplin, Missouri 3 days ago.
ekubum Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 It's Bush's fault. Was going to post the same thing, I thought all gas price problems were because of Bush.... hmmmmmmmmm
