Golf GPS

Featured Replies

I just bought one the other day. I know that we have some golfers on BGP and I was wondering if anybody else had one and if it helped their game any.

I dont have one but my usual playing partner does so I might as well have one. I love them, saves you so much time from having to guess or look for yardage markers and you get a pretty accurate distance. Really like knowing how far I have to carry bunkers and water and how far to the end of the fairway on holes.

Sucks whenever I have to play without one now.

I want to buy one soon... They really help your golf game...

I've thought about it, but I don't hit the ball far enough or crooked enough to justify the expense. The only time I would really like to have one with me is on an unfamiliar course.

I purchased one in the early Spring(GolfBuddy) and absolutely love it.

I have used a friends SkyCaddy several times but I dont play often enough anymore to justify the expense. I recently discovered a Golf GPS application for my Blackberry.....used it a couple weeks back at Eagle Trace and it was pretty great. Best thing was I can use it 5 times for free and then the annual fee is only like $35.00 if I want to use it more...

I've got a Skycaddy and love it. Really nice when I'm playing a course that I'm not familiar with.

I've got the SkyCaddie 4. It is a big help, especially on a course I've neer been on. I do have some issues with getting a signal sometimes though.

How exactly do they work. Do they have every course in KY or do you have to load the course you want? How much are they if you don't mind me asking. I am thinking about buying one.

I belong to a club and play 99% of my rounds there, pretty much know the distance, they would be great if you played a lot of different courses. Going to Hilton Head for Thanksgiving week so I might have to borrow one.

My Dad has a SkyCaddie and I love it when I play with him. Makes playing much easier because instead of having to judge the stakes you have the yardage right there in the palm of your hand. Also tells you how far to lay up, front of the green, center of the green, etc. Very handy.

My buddy bought a Sky Caddy and I think it's pretty cool. I play with him a lot, so I probably won't buy one anytime soon. He paid around $300 for him, but he got one of the top ones.

To build on this, should they be allowed in competition?

WITHOUT A DOUBT!

The NCAA is allowing players to use laser devices this year for the first time. And to be honest, I would not have a problem with letting college players use GPS systems.

What are your thoughts on this lbbc?

Not all players can afford such devices. Is that fair that the playing field in a tournament can be skewed because of devices? In HS, you might have a school/rich parent that could afford to equip all the players with one while a poorer school could not. Is that such an unfair advantage to allow IN THE TOURNAMENT. Equipment to use in practice is another thing. But in the actual playing time, I don't think it is a fair option.

Until the prices come down and they affordable to all, not sure that they should be allowed.
