Campbell Situation

Has anyone heard a rumor about Coach Code being pressured to win or leave?

16-11 last year with losses to CovCath, Mason Cty.(2), Scott, Boone, Highlands, Clark, Newport, Holmes, Scott County, Brossart; most of which the previous coach wouldn't even schedule?? Upgrading the schedule is how the Camels can get back to where their fans want them to be, but I guess they could go back to their All "A" schedule of the mid-2000's and still be lucky to win 16 games?? Wow--What do these guys want??

Not being close to the situation, I'll guess a trip to the regional tournament.

Having watched the Camels this summer, I am confident that Coach Code will be just fine. Yes, the loss to Brossart in districts last year was disappointing but look for a return to the regions this year.

IMO: They will not get back to the regionals this year. Brossart is going to be much better than last year and will probably be the front runner for the district title with Scott right behind them. I just don't see Campbell beating Scott or Brossart to get to the regional tourny.

So is he on the hot seat?

Not on the hot seat. This is Coach Code's third year. It has taken him this long to put his system in place and allow the shakeup to occur. He now has players who buy into the system and this will be seen in results this year.

I am very close to Campbell County basketball, and I haven't heard anything about them putting pressure on Code to win. The last two years have been alot better than the ones before. Last year they played a tough schedule compared to the past. I think if they continue to get better and better every year Code is fine.

I think Campbell County has been solid under Code. They just have the misfortune of playing in the toughest district in the 10th region. With a few breaks they could have had a couple of district championships and regional appearances under Code.

I saw them play a couple of times this summer and they played well. Jolly is one of the top 3 players in the district in my opinion and they have a solid supporting cast.

Scott Code is an excellent coach. His kids play hard and devote themselves to defense. Pressure to get to the regional tournament exists at all schools, however Campbell should be happy with Coach Code's system and results.

That has been the problem with CC sports in general. Being happy with lackluster or average results.

I'll admit Coach Code is a good coach and commits his teams to defensive excellence. I'll however disagree that CC fans should be "happy" with the system or results. You would have to further define system (offensive, defensive, developmental, etc.) However, that has less to do with Code and more with the mindset of CC fans, parents, administration, etc. in general.

I'm off the soapbox now. That said, I think Code brings a toughness mindset that hopefully will begin to be seen throughout the entire program.

First of all, I don't think that Coach Scott Code is under any kind of pressure to win, other than what he puts upon himself.

When a coach is hired in good faith, I feel that he deserves four or possibly five years to establish a program and become a contender, so long as he does nothing illegal or immoral, and as long as the players in the building come out for the team, and playing on that team is deemed to be a positive experience.

He should be left to develop his program from the bottom up, and after four years, when his first freshmen class become seniors, then be judged on his effectiveness and that of his overall program. Should he feel that he is not accomplishing his goals, does not enjoy doing the job, or that it is impossible to please his detractors, it should be his option to resign.

Running from one side of the ship to the other, and changing coaches every time the weather changes because of the whims of parents or boosters, is counter-productive. The coach should have the full support of the administrators who hired him. They should share some ownership in the overall success, or lack thereof, of the overall program.

Coach Scott Code is a good man who truly understands the game, and will apply all of the pressure to win necessary to himself. He doesn't need any outside influences.

What's the old saying??? You can please some of the people some of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time. (Something like that).

Aren't several of those teams in their NKAC conference and they have to play them every year?

Scott and Brossart are district foes, so, they would have to schedule them.

Who are the ones that the previous coaches were ducking?

And honestly, CCHS has always seemed to have Brossart envy. Fans very much afraid of Brossart being more successful than them. And they overreact because of it.

How about Scott Co. and Holmes to start, they wre no. 1 and 2 in the state for most of the year. They are now playing in holiday tournaments such as the the Ashland Inivitational and others. They don't have an easy schedule at all except for Calvary and Silvergrove, who are in their district.
