July 18, 200917 yr GET US A BAT WALT!!!!! They actually need at least 2 bats and more like 3. Not worth what they'd have to give up this season. This team is not a contender this season but should have a chance next season with some good offseason moves. Now is not the times to trade away prospects to make an improbable run at a wild card or division berth.

July 19, 200917 yr I think they can get a bat & make a push this season without sacrificing the future... With Bruce out for an extended time and Volquez not coming back for at least a couple more weeks that's not going to happen. Bruce has had a horrible year but he was still their biggest power threat in the outfield. Without him they need: A power/RBI bat. A leadoff hitter. And a shortstop. Unless the Marlins want to trade Hanley Ramirez the Reds aren't going to get all of that without making 2-3 trades. Why would they want to do that and give up any of their young players? If tonight's score holds they will be 4 games below .500, closer to last place than to first, they've been outscored by around 50 runs on the season, and 9 games under .500 since May 27th. What out of that makes you think one bat can make them a contender?
