Track The Reds (2nd Half - Week 1)

Featured Replies

Well, it's the All-Star Break.

I suspect that a move will be coming soon.

Personally, I would love to deal David Weathers and/or Arthur Rhodes. Both are veteran relievers who are having solid years & will have some value on the trade market.

Additionally, if we can get anything in return for Ramon Hernandez that would be great. It is highly unlikely that he'll be a Red after this year. I like Hernandez & what he has brought to the team this year, but he's just too expensive to re-sign.

The Reds have signed Kip Wells.

"Marc Sheldon of MLB.com is reporting that the Reds have signed Kip Wells to a minor league deal and assigned him to AAA.

Wells was designated for assignment on June 24th by the Nationals and elected free agency after clearing waivers. He posted a 6.49 ERA and an 18/18 K/BB ratio in 26 1/3 innings out of the Nationals' bullpen.

We are picking up the Nationals castoffs.

That can't be a good sign.

Ehh, it's not a big move either way. Wells is a vet who can come out of the 'pen or get a spot start.

That makes me feel like we are going to be dealing a pitcher on the MLB staff.

Weathers or Rhodes may be able to bring some value. I'd be willing to deal Burton, too.

What is the deal with Bill Bray? Is he in AAA?

Bray had surgery about a month ago. Out 10-12 months.

John Fay...

The Reds will go with 13 pitchers tonight. It sounds like they make a move tomorrow.

"There are some technical things," Dusty Baker said.

--DICKERSON OUT: Chris Dickerson scratched. His back is still bothering him. The hope is he'll be able to play tomorrow. "He looked Fred Sanford walking around here," Baker said.

Baker hasn't posted the new lineup.

--GONZO UPDATE: Alex Gonzalez is close. He could go the minors for a rehab assignment next week. He's throwing and hitting. "It's amazing," Baker said. "He must have good blood. He's a quick healer."

--VOLQUEZ UPDATE: Edinson Volquez will throw again on Saturday. The hope is to have him throwing off the mound by next week. If he can do that, he's probably two weeks or so from a rehab assignment.

--JOCKETTY ON STUBBS: Walt Jocketty agrees with the Baker on rushing Drew Stubbs.

It looks like it.

Homer roughed up a little bit this time out...

This team is done...I hope they don't trade away any prospects for a bat this season.
