Either way, they say that any publicity is good publicity. Without Chad, there would be no reason for the national media to mention the Bengals. However, his antics get people to think about Cincinnati, for better or for worse. Personally, so long as Chad performs, I don't mind his antics. Last season was cleary a letdown (both from Chad and the team) but back when the Bengals were winning and Chad was dominating, his antics were never a problem for me.

 

Furthermore, it seems that some believe that Chad's antics keep the team from winning- I don't believe that at all. What kept the team from winning last year was having our franchise quarterback out for the year, which is due to having a miserable offensive line. Chad's craziness, IMO, has little impact on the team's winning. Perhaps his poor play, but I don't think that his poor play is a result of his antics, because we've seen him perform well in the past while still doing his thing.

 

Since I don't think Chad's quirks affect his level of play, I have no problem with it. When it does, as a Bengals fan, I will- but I have no reason to believe it.

That's fine. You are correct though. Something that Bengals fans fail to realize is that winning solves a lot of ills. Losing or .500 magnifies those ills. If they could just get their act together and put a winning team on the field, we'd have a lot better things to talk about.

Who cares?? Chad has always got to be doing something to be heard. How about scoring some touchdowns man, or how about leading your own team in recieving yards? I am so glad I don't have season tickets anymore. And until the wonderful owner decides to start caring about this franchise the Bengals will not amount to much. I don't hate the Bengals, or Chad Johnson, but just feel the owner doesn't care about the franchise. What do you think if Peyton Manning was trying to Twitter during a game? DO you think Irsay would let that crap go on?

Sure it does, the same way TO is able to kill a team's overall mood (and season, for that matter) with his antics.

 

I don't know about you, but when I played sports, the prima-donna spotlight types on my team regularly fostered resentment among the guys who kept their mouths shut and did their jobs (which was most of the team), especially when we lost, which was often.

 

I'm sure there is plenty of simmering animosity among the Bengals for 85's act, it's just that most of them aren't willing to say anything about it. It will tell me a lot how big a step forward in the leadership department Carson Palmer has taken if he comes out publicly against this hare-brained idea.

I like this idea for Chad. If he is doing this he wont have time to be fighting with his coaches or quaterback.

I could agree w/ that. Players aren't allowed having electroninc devices like a phone on the sideline anyways. I know he said it w/o ever really going over how it would be done and partially joking. My problem as always is that he's more focused on 85 than his team or winning.
