July 2, 200917 yr $5.6 million a year is a lot. But he won't be making $5.6 million a year for the rest of his life. Basketball careers aren't that long. Good for you if you value winning over money. I don't. I'd love to win while making money, but if it came down to it and I was a middle of the road player like Ariza...I'd take every penny I could get. When it comes to Kobe, or Lebron...who are set for life...yeah I can understand them not worrying about the money aspect as much. But for a guy who might average $4-5 million a year...I don't blame him one bit for wanting as much money as possible. Like I said, everybody is different. I'd take 5.6 with the Lakers or Cavs than 6-7 million with the Blazers or Raptors.
July 2, 200917 yr Ariza is what? 24? In two years time, it looks like the Blazers could end up as one of the best teams in the NBA. Brandon Roy looks like he will be one of the best wing players in the league for a long time, Lamarcus Aldridge is one of the best young bigs in the league, Oden is oft-injured but talented, Fernadez looks like the real deal. So I don't buy that he would be worse off. Maybe next year, but for his career, no way. Wasn't everyone saying that this was Kobe's last shot at a title a few weeks ago? I don't buy that, but the Lakers will most likely not be a top notch title contender for the remainder of Ariza's career. Remember those lovable losers were the #3 seed in the West. In 2 years time, LeBron will be on top of the world. It won't matter whatteam anybody is on. Especially if he stays in Cleveland. L.A., San Antonio, Cleveland, Orlando, Boston and Denver will all be better than the Blazers next year. And I am not just talking regular season. Regular season is nothing but warm ups for the playoffs. Roy and Aldridge are a great nucleus, but Fernandez wants out and Oden has yet to prove he is any better than Michael Olawakandi. You guys can talk the Blazers up all you want, I am not buying it after 1 "great" season. The lovable losers were the 4 seed. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/standings And they got beat by the 5 seed 4 games to 2 in the 1st round against a team that was missing TMac. Yeah, that tells me they are building themselves to compete for a championship in the next 5 years. Won't happen, you guys will see and I can't wait to hear your excuses as to why it didn't in 5 years. I'll still be here.
July 2, 200917 yr :thumb: They aren't on TV (basic packages) alot, so people really don't know. Blazers have the most potential of any team in the league when you look at the long run. Right. And then when you say they are a very good team, people claim that YOU are the one who does not watch the NBA. If they were that good, they'd be on tv in late May so the whole world can watch them. I could care less what tv package you got or whatgame came on in December. The proof is in the pudding and they were on tv 6 times during the 40 games in 40 nights on TNT. And actually, at least 2 of those games were on NBA TV because they aren't that good.
