July 3, 200917 yr Hedo is going to the Blazers. Somewhere around 50 Mil for 5 years. Well, that IMO puts them at possibly the 3rd best team in the West, possibly passing the Nuggets. I still feel the Lakers and Spurs are obviously better than them. Should make for a great playoffs and season next year. As for Ariza, I see where he felt disrespected by the MLE, but IMO, he should have taken it, if he could have gotten it for one year. You don't want to be a FA this year, IMO, you want to be on the market next year when everyone will be getting large paydays.
July 3, 200917 yr Good fit for Portland. Lets them play without a true point guard at some points in the game giving the ball to 2 good players that are also playmakers for teammates (Turk and Roy).
July 3, 200917 yr So, far it seems winners are Spurs, Lakers, Blazers, Cavs. Losers are Rockets, Nuggets (standing pat is not helping them), New Orleans. And at best/worst spinning their wheels is Magic and Pistons. Celtics still up in the air depending on what Sheed does but I don't think it really helps them. Perkins/Garnett/Davis was not their problem till Garnet got hurt.

He give them a Big man who can stretch the floor, KG can do that, but that really isn't how he plays his game anymore. I feel that it is a 3 team race for the title on paper right now in LA, San Antonio, and the Celtics if they sign Rasheed. Cavs could get in there, but I'll have to wait for the season to start. Magic, Blazers, Nuggets are the next tier IMO. Also, there's not much New Orleans can do they just don't have the money. I don't think they are title contenders, but I don't think they are that much worse next season. Remember that geezer Peja and Chandler were hurt for most of the season. I think they could maybe end up as high as a 5 seed in the West, but a lottery season wouldn't suprise me either.

The Lakers had to add Gasol to make it to the finals and then ultimately win them. The Celtics had to get Garnett. The Spurs have Timmy. Denver had a committee of bruising, athletic big men. The Magic have Howard. A big man is what Cleveland lacked, which is why Orlando beat them. I think L.A., Spurs, Cleveland, Orlando, and then the Celtics if they keep Rondo and add Rasheed are easily the best teams in the NBA which will set up some great games in May and June next year. Denver, IMO, is still a better team than Portland.

I'm not saying he is Dwight Howard or KG, but he isn't garbage either.

I'm not saying he is Dwight Howard or KG, but he isn't garbage either. I agree, I like Aldridge, don't get me wrong, but IMO, he doesn't seem like the kind of big man in the molds of a Gasol, Duncan, Howard, KG, etc. He is a talented player, but for me, whether or not Oden can stay healthy and then contribute will be the tell tale sign of whether or not the Blazers will get over the hump. So far the Blazers look like idiots for passing on Durant, just like they looked like idiots for passing on MJ. Granted Durant wouldn't be their answer for a big man, but he will be a much better player than Oden as far as NBA careers go. Had they gotten Durant, they could have let Hedo go elsewhere this year and they could have made a push for Amare which would have given them a nucleus of Roy, Aldridge, Durant and Stoudemare. Then, I'd be convinced. Who knows, maybe Phil would have even left the Lakers to coach in Portland with all that talent they could have had if they had drafted Durant.:lol:

Remember, Aldridge is just 23 and I think he's the most skilled, offensively, young post player in the league (only exception being possibly Al Jefferson). Offensively players like Stoudemire and Howard are raw, Aldridge isn't, he will become a better rebounder and defender in time. Gasol is a fine player, but I don't buy that LA couldn't end up being alot better than him.
