June 30, 200917 yr .... Signing period starts at Midnight tonight, figured we can put most in here and if it is a big name it's own thread if need be.
July 1, 200917 yr Author Got some of this stuff out there.... Fresh off winning the championship, the Lakers guard decided not to exercise an early termination option in his contract and will return for the 2009-10 season, a league source told ESPN.com's Chad Ford. Bryant is scheduled to make $23 million next season by not opting out. He also has a player option to opt out of his contract in the 2010-11 season.
July 1, 200917 yr Author Carlos Boozer has opted in on his contract to play for the Jazz for one more season, the Tribune has learned. Boozer stands to make $12.7 million under that deal and will become a free agent next season. A representative from Boozer's agent, Rob Pelinka, delivered notice to the Jazz a little before 3 p.m. Salt Lake Tribune Okur opted in as well.
July 1, 200917 yr Author Forward Anderson Varejao did not exercise the final year of his contract on Tuesday, making him an unrestricted free agent this summer, a source close to the player told ESPN.com's Chad Ford. Varejao was slated to make $6.2 million this year if he opted in. Instead, Varejao, who plays a key role defensively for the Cavs, will test the free agent waters, looking for more long-term lucrative deal.

Can he actually get that much on the open market this summer?
July 1, 200917 yr He turned down 6.2 mil? Can he actually get that much on the open market this summer? $6.2 this year, but maybe nothing more than $2 million per year for one year after that. His thought might be to try and get a 5-year deal worth $4 million per year. The long term money would ultimately be better, even if giving up the biggest amount for the upcoming season.

I thought the decision was whether to play the final year of the contract at 6.2 or opt out now.
July 1, 200917 yr Boston trying to get Sheed, won't be a midnight type deal. I'm thinking that Sheed is going to get MLE type money where ever he goes, so he will have his choice of a few teams. I think the Spurs or Magic would be the easier fit for him as he fits their systems a little better.
July 1, 200917 yr I thought the decision was whether to play the final year of the contract at 6.2 or opt out now. Varajao thinks someone will give him 10 million. I think he gets a small raise from someone up to maybe 7 million, via sign and trade. 3 teams have cap room, and the Pistons and Blazers probably don't want him, and I think the Thunder have their sights set on Millsap.

He doesn't seem worth 6.2 to me, much less more than that...somebody will probably pay it though. They always do.
